I just installed a neat gadget on my 6 Gal propane only Atwood Water Heater that I bought on eBay for $10 plus shipping.
No more will I run out of hot water after that little feeble pilot light blows out, without us knowing!
This item was easily mounted and uses a 9V battery and an electrode mounted into the burner assembly with the control box mounted with 2 screws to the right of the relief valve. When you turn it on it starts sparking and continues until the pilot is stable then slows down and stops! But if the pilot goes out, and before the thermocouple shuts off the gas, it starts up and keeps sparking till the flame is stable again! Neat!
It has a shut off switch but I guess that the battery would die if the gas ran out, or if the pilot was clogged or wet and wouldn't start, but, hey, Dollar Store batteries are cheap!
I don't know if they are available new, as this one was New OLD stock, by the look of the Atwood blister pack.
Just another addition to make my Bigfoot 17 more comfortable.

Yes - here is a picture of my install.
As you can see, this is easily done and NOT some staged NEW thingy! My system is 15 years old!
I do see that they are still sold at a MUCH higher price than I paid, so I will let you find the new ones by Google.

I can see a use for it in windy areas. I personally have never had my pilot blow out tho, and I have been in some pretty whippy winds.
