April 24-26, 2009 – Waterloo County Park (just east of Lebanon, Oregon)
We had a great time this past weekend and it’s already time to start the planning for spring. Silver Falls has few spaces left open for April and Champoeg is already booked solid. So the decision was to go back to Waterloo!

You can either make reservations online at: Linn County Parks and Recreation - Waterloo or by calling 541-967-3917 during regular business hours.

Here's a link to see what's available (thanks Linda!): Waterloo County Park A-Loop

I've chosen site 51 A, the same site I had last time. It’s great for a large gathering. This is a really nice park for this type of event. The showers/restrooms are clean and are centrally located right in the center. As usual I’ll keep a park map updated and a list of names going for those that have made reservations. So, post away!

Ready, set... GO!

I'll be in 37 - I was very jealous of everyone who got to go to the Fall NOG - can't miss out again.
Ian-Vicki
Ian and I, plus two cats, are booked into 59A. This year we tried to get to three different gatherings, with my mom ending up in hospital each time. So for this one, we won't tell her when it is and see if that works. It also might help that she's had open heart surgery since and healed up nicely. See you then.
Vicki
Louise B
Hi all
Louise and John will be in 49A. Great to see you all.
Cheers,
Louise
Linda&Dale
When I called she made it sound like the park was full but when I go to the site and look at the sites still available right now, I see 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19,20 through 25, 27, 29, 31, 32 and 34. Twenty three left. There are a few others that don't have any hook ups. And it looks like 25 booked.

So there will be room for all. I sure hope we take over the whole park.

Put us down in

We had a great time at Silver Falls and are looking forward to the Spring NOG. Please mark Chris, Meg and me down for site 50. We also reserved site 48 in hopes that my sister and her family can come with their 17' Bigfoot (I think it's an '84 -- I haven't had a chance to ask her about this yet). For now, please mark 48 for Katie and her husband, Jon, and their three girls, Whitney, Maddy and Hailey. I'll keep you posted. If they can't make it, we'll have an extra site available.

Maureen
Roger C H
You can post Roger & Mary in 9A, April 23-27! See you there!! 4.gif

And Sharen & Simon are booked in A-15... with our dogs, we'd rather be along the wooded side, so if anyone cancels on that side, please let us know.

So glad to see so many happy crampers already signed up. It was the first thing I did when we finally got back home on Monday, as nightfall decended.

Have a great winter all... and keep in touch via this site! Love your pictures. Here's another from Silverfalls - Simon doing the lumber jack sketch on that frosty October 11th morning.

Here is a nice birdseye view of Waterloo from Google maps. But the Waterloo County Park address - 39510 Gross St, Waterloo, OR 97355 - shows an in-town location. Are the campgrounds actually in those trees along the river???

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...mp;t=h&z=19

Linda, while this town is small, as you said, it has a 7th Street... Our Langley, WA, home only goes up to 6th St!!!

Here are the demos from Wikipedia.com = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterloo,_OR
"As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 239 people, 83 households, and 60 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,583.2 people per square mile (615.2/km²). There were 91 housing units at an average density of 602.8/sq mi (234.2/km²). " The mayor's name is "Jed Little." Didn't we see him on TV? lol

We're eager to check out Waterloo! Sounds like our kind'o place!

Check out this website for more information and photos of Waterloo: http://www.co.linn.or.us/parks/Waterloo.htm

We found the park to be wonderful and a great find. There were nice camp spots, lots of bike trails, open spaces, access to the Santiam River, horseshoe pits, nature trails and interesting places to explore nearby. I think you will like it! And... if we are lucky.... 35.gif

Thanx.gif Sorry to have been away and we miss you guys too. Also, sorry to report that Martha has gone walk-about somewhere and has been gone about 3 months now. We miss her. Have another addition though, Sidney, about 14 weeks ild. We got him because Luther was so lonely for Martha and now Sidney is making Luther nuts. So be it. But they should be there at Waterloo with us, so we can all have our feline fix. 40.gif
cheers for now

Had a great time at Silver Falls - great to see everyone and looking forward to (a warm) Spring! 35.gif I think we had the same problem as Linda & Dale, the park looked full but the website confirmed and took our $ - didn't assign a site, - before I got around to calling we got a confirmation a few days later for site # 34 31.gif hooray - so we're good to go!

Donna D.
I thought I'd check the Waterloo website and see how the park was doing with reservations. Humm site is down, under construction. So, if you need a site... I'd suggest you give the park reservation line a call... 541-967-3917 during regular business hours

As was said on the fall discussion, we used our dutch oven metal table and put the NOG washer tub on it and pulled the table between the tub on the fire pit and the table and we were very comfortable in the evening with two tubs providing heat. The table kept the ground from showing evidence that we had two fires. Since our group is growing it would be nice to have at least two fires going so that the entire circle can be semi close to the fires. We will bring the NOG wash tub but would sure like to get one of our own. If anyone coming to Waterloo or is close to us, finds a source for a stainless steel wash tub we would love to get one.
Charlene Urso
Hi Linda,

I had told several folks that I would be willing to get a tub for them. There is someone in Springfield who does appliance repair who will save the stainless steel tubs and sell them for $20. That is where I got the ones for Adonna and Sharen. I can bring one to the next gathering in April if you want. I am going to be bringing some for others.

Thank you for the offer. Put us down for a tub.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

By my count, today, we have 27 28 reservations. banana.gif

BTW - What is it with tubs? ask.gif
Linda&Dale
Last camp out, we had a fire in their fire pit and it smoked because the sides blocked the air and the smoke drove people away from the fire but when we put a tub on the metal grate, the air flow through the side of the tub allowed the smoke to go straight up and the heat was able to radiate out and really increased the warming factor by 200%. We are really sold on the campfire enjoyment you get by adding a tub before starting the fire.

And when we put a tub on a cooking table, it increased the number of fires you can have for a large group. Then you can all be near a fire instead of having two rows where the second row gets no benifits of the campfire.

Jackie
Add Chuck and Jackie in site 5A for the festivities. We'll come on down, do some visiting, play some golf, and do some geocaching! slap.gif
Byron Kinnaman
Byron and Anne will be in 45A.

I'll do the name tag thing again. Come to site 45A around 10:00 am Saturday and make a wooden name tag.

Hi All-

Wanted to chime in- We have booked A42 & A43 for us and Bob & Judy Webb. With any luck Bob and Judy will be towing their new (to them) 16ft Big Foot to this gathering. They just bought a new tow rig this week to go along with their new trailer. I see Sharon is very close to us so not much walking involved to get a cocktail. woohoo.gif woohoo.gif

We all had a great time at Silver Falls (once we found our camp ground). Wish we would have been able to visit with everyone more but frankly it was too darn cold to get out much. We left Silver Falls and traveled around (not as lost) for another week before we arrived back home. We found some little towns in Oregon we fell in love with and hope to visit again in the future. After getting home 5 days later than planned we had to play catch up to getting all those things done that we should have been home doing 5 days earlier. This week I became very sick and ended up at the hospital yesterday. I am still very week, but getting better with help of modern med's and my wonderful husband taking care of me. I have been laying in bed all day trying to figure out something I could do that would not wear me out or give reason for Berry to yell "get back in bed, I will take care of that." Suddenly I realized I could check in on FGRV without to much energy spent. Since Berry had no idea what sites I had booked for Waterloo he could not tell me, "I will take care of that for you." Posting here and trips to the potty are the only things he can't take care of for me. roflol.gif

Anyway- Can't wait to see everyone in April. I don't know what day we will be rolling in, if I have my way, at least 2 or 3 days early as that area is one of our favorite places for antique stores and treasure hunting. Talk to you soon.

Ellen B.

Just now discovered this event and have booked site 3A. That is what happens when a person signs late. My wife and I and our 4 year old Old English Sheepdog (charlie) are looking forward to it. Hope you will accept folks east of the Ms river. We are living in Duluth, MN and have a 16' Scamp that was just put to bed for the winter. Looking forward to spring. Lee
