I have let Nancy know that I will no longer be doing the corporate donation give aways, too much going on for us now and need to turn this over to someone else. If anybody would be willing to take this over I will turn over the contacts and info over to them with the understanding that it is to be used ONLY for the Oregon Gathering and no other rally. I will still continue to post the donations on my website as they come in as long as the new organizer contacts me with the info or I can give them permission to update the posting themselves on the forum. Someone might as well collect and disperse these great corporate gifts or they will be lost! woohoo.gif If interested you can contact me thru CasitaForum.com and click on the "Contact" button at the top of the forum.

How about another ice cream making session with the kids. My internet has been down and couldn't reply sooner. I plan to be there.

Mitchell really enjoyed making ice cream last year! Great idea smil.gif

Sure! That was a big hit last year. I'll put it on the calendar for Friday or Saturday and we can do a sign-up so you know how much of the supplies you will need.

Thanks, Kathy.

Ok this may be to late but how about a mini class on the ABC's of simple repairs?
I would of liked to have fixed my own hoses and put my own propane reg on myself and saved the labor costs.

I am planning to bring my portable scales and weigh trailers again.
I will change the way I do it:
Weigh axles the same as last year, while you are still hitched up before you go to your site on Thursday.

Weigh tongues differently: at your site, after you are set up. This may be more accurate; to place the scale directly under the hitch.

Good idea, Caroline. Would anyone be willing to do a Simple Repairs class? Hey Ian, didn't your Newbie's Workshop cover these types of things? Are you willing to do it again?

That's great Frederick! It was a big hit last year. Thanks!

If people are still interested I would be happy to do the LED workshop again, but if anyone has an alternate suggestion . . . ?

All of the above workshops sound good ! but how about a wheel bearing packing seminar and maybe general rolling gear ?

Lee,
What kind of rolling gear are you talking about. The wheel bearing part is easy, but what other topics are you interested in? My bearings are about due for repacking anyway so I may take this one on. Just let me know what else you were thinking. This applies to everyone else too! Maybe I could cover some ABCs of repair as well? Electrical issues even? You guys let me know. It's about time I give back to this great group of people for all the fun times I've had!

Eric

PS- Frederick, I can assist with the weigh in, again, if needed.

Frederick, I can assist with the weigh in, again...

Thanx.gif That would be AWESOME!
My plan for this year is to bring a 3rd digital readout scale for direct tongue weights. Axle weights will progress more quickly as we won't HAVE to weigh Tow Vehicles. winky.gif (Unless people want to weigh the tow vehicle) Two people could weigh trailers in the parking lot, and a third person could meet the trailer at the campsite afterward when they unhitch to weigh the tongue.

As to the workshop I was thinking along the lines of information regarding axles (threads would seem to indicate they are somewhat of a problem ), perhaps tire recommendations ( not necessarily as to brand but specifics as to what is required for our trailers ), rim info etc.. I also think an electrical system component would be awesome! I am reasonably proficient at turning the lights on and off but at that point have exhausted my warehouse of electrical knowledge.

I wish the one hour time limit for the workshop was enough to cover every topic, but unfortunately it's not. To cover anything in depth, we would have to narrow the field a bit. I will give all of your suggestions some thought and come up with a topic to cover. Meanwhile, I hope others will chime in with their recommendations as well.

Thanks.

I will sponsor an egg photo contest again this year. There will be 3 categories:

1. Landscape -- an image of scenery including an egg
2. Humor, including an egg
3. People/animals, including an egg. This category can include humans, animals or both.

(Note: egg=fiberglass trailer)

There will be prizes awarded at the potluck. All The photos will be posted for viewing at the gathering.

Requirements:

1. an 8x10 print (or close to that size)
2. bring it to site B16 by Saturday morning 9 a.m.
3. You need to write your name, site number and a brief description of the scene on the back of the photo or on a piece of paper attached.
4. You can submit one photo in each category

Since no one else seems to have volunteered to do one, I'll run a combined solar energy / LED lighting workshop. I'd welcome suggestions from people for topics they'd particularly like to hear about during the talk.

Great, Eric and Peter! Thank you both.

Okay, I will throw my hat into the ring too. I will again be doing a dutch oven demo class, a lot like last year with new recipes and a little refinement. Friday afternoon in space A46.

It would be great if there were demos of adjusting electric trailer brakes and of repacking trailer wheel bearings.

Thanks,

I'd like to find a small group or couple to sit around with to discuss what it's like for them "full-timing". For example, how do you get your mail that is sent to your home address? I have a wireless laptop to do general credit union functions with direct deposit, bill pay, etc. I would guess that only those who have actually experienced full-timing really know what to do... they've "been there, done that". I'm in Site A-63 from Thursday afternoon to Sunday about noon.
ERIC B.
Steve,

That will be covered in one of my workshops. See page 1 post 1 of this thread for current workshop schedule.

Thanks.

Is anyone going to bring a canoe or kayak? There are some good areas inland up the Coquille River. Anyone interested?

I will be bringing one, possibly both of my kayaks. One is new-to-me so I've never used it yet. Maybe I'll try it.

Greeting.

Some of you may have noticed I'm scheduled to host the workshop titled: ABCs of Basic Repairs. This is where I need your help.....what topics should be covered or should I come prepared for? I'll be expecting audience participation for this event! 53.gif Keep in mind that trailer brakes, wheel bearings, solar, LEDs, and hardwood floors will be covered elsewhere. If someone, that is planning to attend, has a specific topic or question that needs attention, let me know ASAP so I can address it properly. I guess I'll just bring my normal bag o' tricks with me and hope I can answer everyone's questions.

Thanks.
Eric B.

I'll have my kayak with me. I know you can go across the highway and up the road to a place to put them in. I've never kayaked up the Coquille.

Site A 26

I count 5 of us at the moment. We'd have to work around Eric's workshops Friday and Saturday and my Golf Ball Horseshoes on Thursday.

Hello Nancy, I am in for "newbies" and could probably put something together for simple repairs. For simple repairs it would be great to have the "questions' on line prior to the event to allow me some research time rather than shooting from the hip.

OK, I should read all the postings before I type. "Simple repairs" are looked after, so I will stay with "Newbies"

I would be willing to expand the Ice Cream making workshop to some interested big kids.

I would like to register for the beading demonstration, if it isn't too late. Should I bring anything besides note-taking materials?

Thanks,

If the Friday Beading Workshop is still happening (I haven't read anything about it) I'd be interested in signing up. If Jackie or Thalia are cosidering doing this please let us know what we should bring to be prepared.

Thanks,
Ellen

No, the beading workshop is not happening this year. The large yurt needed for this activity has been rented for that weekend for the last few months. There is no where else to do it so the beads don't blow around. :-/ Maybe next year.
