For the last 5 years, we have had a free drawing for give-away prizes on Saturday night after the potluck. Gene Layton is retiring from the position of the Donation King which he has held for the past four years. We need others to fill these mighty big shoes. Here's what he wrote on another thread:
QUOTE (Gene L @ Nov 2 2008, 08:16 AM)

If anybody would be willing to take this over I will turn over the contacts and info over to them with the understanding that it is to be used ONLY for the Oregon Gathering and no other rally. I will still continue to post the donations on my website as they come in as long as the new organizer contacts me with the info or I can give them permission to update the posting themselves on the forum. Someone might as well collect and disperse these great corporate gifts or they will be lost! If interested you can contact me through CasitaForum.com and click on the "Contact" button at the top of the forum.
Gene
Contact Gene if you are willing to contact corporations and businesses.
If you receive a donation from a local corporation or business <or> if you want to personally donate something, please post those items here. Thanks for all you do to make the Oregon Gathering great!

I want to move this thread to the top. As of yet, no one has volunteered to do this job. We may have fewer give-aways this year and that's okay. A couple of people have contacted me privately about business or personal donations they are bringing. Would you please post those here?
Thanks,
Nancy

I have these toys that I bought last fall, and they're no longer available from Chevron:
Chevron "Maria Minivan" and "Hap E. Camper"They are back in their original packaging, and I'd like to have them given to a lucky child who attends the gathering. I only have one car and one trailer.

I'd be willing to crochet a blanket for the give away.
I realize it's in the summer, but could be put away for winter
Let me know if that's something that would be liked, if we can't make it due to
no site avail I can mail it to someone a couple week prior to the get together.

Yes! Yes! Yes! That's very generous of you. And a site will come available. (One just got turned back to the park because no one took it.)

Are people going to do regional or theme baskets this year? Seeing what was in each of them the last few years was fun! I've never won one but the people who do always are very excited about them.
Regional Basket
Collect items that show off your state or area's specialties. Put them together in a basket or some other type of container. Cover the whole thing with cellophane; put a list on the outside telling your name, your state or area and a list of items inside.
Theme Basket
Pick a theme (romance, picnics, hiking, pets, etc.) and gather things around that theme. Put them together in a basket or some other type of container. Cover the whole thing with cellophane; put a list on the outside telling your name, the theme and a list of items inside.
Post here if you plan to bring a basket and from what state/area or theme it will be.

I'd be happy to bring a Regional Basket from the Mendocino Coast of N. Calif. I do have a question though. Where does one buy cellophane? Is that something you can find at like a Rite Aid or Longs?
Thanks!

Dale, I've found it cheaper to purchase a large cellophane gift bag at the Dollar Tree... or other "only for a dollar" type store. The last one I bought was about 3 feet in diameter. Right now they're available in great quantity because people are creating Easter Baskets.
Hope it helps.

Joy and Lily are going to donate a stabilizer system.
I purchased 2 and only use one in conjuction with the rear stabilizers. It's like the ones Donna uses if you recall.

I really don't have any way of using it in the rear without crawling under the Scamp. That's because of my bike rack.
And yes, it's a great gift. Who knows I might come up with some other stuff as I'm cleaning out my garage and the storage unit that has all my RV stuff in it.

Thank you, again, Carolyn & Joe! I think your goodie bags are the favorite part of some people's Gathering experience.

"Dennis and I will be bringing two stainless steel fire tubs to be given away at the Give-Away" - and now I'm even (how is it even possible?) sadder that I had to cancel

What a cool find Charlene - I remember you saying at Spring NOG that the stainless steel one's were getting harder to find.

We will miss you, Anne. I remember you saying that you were thinking about adapting an out-of-date propane tank for a mini-tub. Do you ever do that? I think that Adonna was saving a propane tank for you. Hope to see you at the next gathering.

I haven't done a mini-tub yet - all I've been doing this year is

unfortunately - my poor Escape has spiders shooting webs all over it as it sits disconsolately in my driveway.
I have learned to play 'Mexican Train' though - to the delight of my penny-hungry friends, I'm still pretty bad at it - but will be looking for a game at the next gathering (might be next spring at this rate).
Take care and have a great time at the Gathering!!!
