OK, to get this rocket launched, Simon and I have RESERVED SITE #21 at TAIDNAPAM for Thurs-Sun, June 4/5/6, departing Sunday, June 7th, which is, BTW, a full moon.
I hope the rest of you will join us! A few sites glowed "red", meaning they were booked, but most - plenty - were AVAILABLE and a peek at the images showed very nice sites.

Wayne,
I just did the same... the images on the WA state park site for TAIDNAPAM are very good. In fact, if I hit the right keys, the group camp image should appear below, and you are right - lots of gravel, very open, and sites shoulder-to-shoulder.
Simon and I prefer some green leafy stuff in between.
I think we should try for the serviced loop nearest the water, for June 5/6/7.

I've reserved site #30 for Peter and I. Hopefully we can both make it however it is the week before Peter's spring quarter final exams. Even if he can't make it, I'll still come up and camp now that I know how to drive and set up / tear down on my own.
I booked us to arrive on Friday and depart on Sunday.
This should be fun! The last time I was in this part of the state was when I was a 14 year old attending 4-H camp at Mayfield Lake.

Thank you Donna, for putting a link to this thread on the other (Casita) forum for me.
I should have done that when I posted it.
At least I have someone looking out for me!

My brother Steve e-mailed me about this thread, so I signed myself (& dog Joey) up for site 26 and Karen Langlois (and Chase) up for site 27!
Asked my brother if he would come, but now that I think about it he's allergic to dogs. Perhaps he would come if we put both dogs in Karen's car!

Hello all,

Here is the latest list with updated map. Sites marked in red are reserved by our group. Sites marked in green are available. Sites marked in white are already taken by other campers.
Maureen and I also reserved site 28 for Maureen's sister and her family. We aren't sure whether they will be able to make it, but we thought we should be sure that site was reserved for someone from our group. Looking at the site photos, it does not look like there is much "open space" between most of our sites. We could possibly use Site 28 as a central gathering site for the group for the weekend since it looks more open.

We hope everyone enjoyed a fun and filling (ya betcha!) Turkey Day. We feel especially blessed and grateful this year - can you guess why?! And good ol' Tom provided us with a sumptuous meal.

Greg, sounds like a fun idea to convoy, let' do it!
We had to wait before reserving a spot so we are "out there." Same problem with the Oregon get together. We just made reservations at Bullards and ended up in the "C" area. Hopefully, we can reserve a lot earlier next year!!!

Hi Rick,
Well, hopefully we can get together before then, maybe meet for a beer or lunch sometime? (I think we talked about this before but if I remember, you had some family commitment to attend to and we never followed up it.) It would be fun to just get together and finally meet up anyway. Perhaps we could rendezvous someplace in Silverdale?
We'll also be at the Bullards Beach S.P. gathering too, (our second year). This year we'll be in site B-45.
Depending on where we are prior to the Bullards Beach trip, we may be heading there directly from our planned week or longer opal digging trip near Denio in northwestern Nevada. It depends when we go, and of course, when we leave there. Actual Nevada trip dates are still up in the air.

Simon & Sharen here, reporting in. We've endured more snow than this island has seen in 40 years, but we are well. And it's lookin' very much like a White Christmas.
Here's a couple of happy snaps of our wee cramper, tucked in the wooded part of our yard. And our home, barely seeable past the snow-laden deodars and fir.
Wishing you all safe, healthy and happy holidays.

The way to shrink your pictures is to email them to yourself. Insert them into an email and you will get the message whether you want to shrink them. Say yes. Then when the email arrives, copy them into a file where you can find them. Look at the details now and you will see the pics drastically reduced in size. Then follow the standard method detailed elsewhere on this forum to include them in your post.
Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

Our first-ever, and to this date, our only, official "get-together" with our Casita (bought in July, 2008) was last year's (first) WA state get-together at Fort Worden State Park.
When we saw this thread, I immediately started to reserve a site at Tiednapam(sp?), only to discover that we have a conflict ;-(
We are already signed up to take our first-ever cruise (Alaska) starting that same weekend! So, we will have to wait until 2010 for the third annual (I hope) Wa State get-together.
We had such a great time at Fort Worden that we really hate to miss this year's event.
We wish you all the best, and hope to see some of you at the northern and southern Oregon gatherings, where we are reserved and anxious to go!

Hi Mike,
Welcome. As a fellow "Casitan", (I picked mine up just one month before you did), I'm sure you are enjoying your new toy too.
I was just curious after reading your post, as to what WA State "get together" you were at up in Fort Warden SP last year?
We, (the group of us who attended the first annual WA State get-together,) held our "first annual" event at Grayland Beach SP in Grayland, down near Westport on the coast. This was held back in last September. All of us who were there had a great time and we are all looking forward to our second annual trip to Taidnapam Park.
While I also certainly enjoy Fort Warden as well, having been there many times over the years, we (the group) have not yet ever held a "WA State" get-together there yet. It was a nominated site, among several other suggested sites which we had originally considered, but then, by group consensus, we all finally agreed to hold it at Grayland SP.
Sorry you have a scheduling conflict for the Taidnapum rally and won't be able to make it. We have almost tripled the number of people signed up for this one over last year, and I'm sure we'll have a good time again. Perhaps we'll see you at one of the upcoming Oregon rallies at least. If things change, please feel free to join us!

They should be ok by June.. I havent heard how bad or what the situation is on the flooding that way... I know Morton got hit pretty bad with the snow, building collaps etc..... The park is by the Cowlitz river tho.... I believe they have pretty well finished up the 'newer sites' but it does say 'restriction' so dont know whats with that.... Looks like a pretty 'full' house for June!!!
I can always call the park and find out ...

That's a nice offer Christi, but this June event is still five months out. May should wait and see if we hear any news? The parks people probably couldn't give you much information right now anyway. Even if it was completely flooded, they'll probably work hard to get it back into shape for summer camping.

These issues can take months to resolve. I remember a coupla years ago when Howard Miller Steelhead State Park (on the Skagit, hwy 20 east) got wiped out, MANY members of an American Car Club I belong to (J.J. Cruisers from Sedro) combined forces and built a new play area for the kids and did 2 days worth of 'grunt work' in an effort to get the park back up on its feet. The first year after the park reopened, it still wasn't 'much'. It took almost a full 18 months for gov't fundage to kick in and provide some more relief!! Good news is NOW that park is better than ever....

I am confident "our rangers' will have everything cleaned up and open, along with the volunteers..... 5 months is away yet.... I might just take a drive up there for one of my sunday drives anyways in the spring .. March or April.. maybe...
they also hire the 'correctional facility work program people' to come clean up too in the parks.. in other words the 'chain gang' lol

Hi all,
Well, it seems we are still growing! I now count 28 spaces reserved so far. If memory serves me correctly, I believe we only had a dozen spaces booked for our first get-together last September.
For the next "update" of the Master List (on page #2, post #16), please include Doug M. (ref. post 23) in Space #18, who has slipped through the cracks on the list, as well as our latest signed up attendees, Rick and Chris in Space #32.
Let's see if we can break 30 sites this year!
