As one who was boondocking for 5 months last summer I wish I had seen this comparison.
I was thinking of doing to the LED lighting system last year but never got around to it but after seeing this I know I will.

A little pricey...but at "1/10" the power consumption compared to 1156 incandescent bulbs...I bought two and likely will eventually get two more of the superbright LEDs

I know they make cool white and warm white from superbright and i believe it was warm white they used in the demonstration to compare to the 1156........ any chance you can post a link to where you got it?____ if not that's okay just post back when you get them and comment on how close it compares the incandescant 1156 bulb___

I do not know if he used the 24 or 36 light configuration but I would guess the 24.

I am really, really happy with my V-LEDS warm white 48 LED panels. They consume 2 watts each and are slightly than the 1156 bulbs they replaced. They only have one problem: I put one in the bathroom and it was way, way, way (way way way) to bright. One of these in my porch light and I start wondering whether I'm keeping the neighbors awake at night.

Just be aware: V-LEDS sells both warm-white and HID 48-LED panels. The HID bulbs put out the same blue-white light that high-end "HID" car headlights do, and while they're not as bright as vehicle headlight the 48 LED HID panels are much brighter than the warm-white panel is. Put "warm white" in their website search box and it'll point you to the right thing. Usually the 48-LED panels are the only warm-white option they have.

Peter, did you replace the lenses in your lights when you went to the LED's from frosted to clear?

No, I kept the stock frosted plastic lenses. I like the look better that way.

I followed Peters lead and installed the VLEDS 48 light LEDs. But I also installed Clear len's.

Nice soft light, not as bright as 1156's, but the 1156's were starting to burn the old frosted lens anyway.

I will have to think about putting in some of these while doing some mods on my Horizon camper. I do wish you could get these in a kit so you could make them up yourself. That might be a little cheaper and I wouldn't mind putting them together. Peter I would like to know how you attached the led panel inside the light fixture?

I used glass tape. Others have used double-sided foam tape, and that seems to work as well. I think I'd go with the foam tape if I ever have to do it again.
