Okay, Everyone!! Its official! We are registered for the First annual S.D. Egg Rally from the 25th of September thru the 28th of September, 2009!! The map of sites is at:

http://www.hartranchresort.com/images/big_rv_map.pdf

We have available to us spaces 303-307 and 331-350. If we have more than 25 reservations, they can accomodate us, you just might be a bit separated. In order to reserve, I have to coordinate the event. Please PM me if you need phone numbers or addresses. Like with the other rallies, just post here what site you want, and then we will update it. Let me know if you are an RPI, CtC or hart ranch member. Those reservations are done thru the resort, but we still need to check you off on our site list.

The buffalo roundup is the 28th of September, in Custer state park. We will have to come up with some ideas on activities...such as a DO cookoff or something as such. I will start the ball rolling: We will be in site 350! welcome2.gif Next?
Vivian
Joe and Vivian would like to have site #331 from 9/25 through 9/28. We are not members of any of the groups you mention. How do you want us to pay? Thank you very much for putting this together.
Robin G
Were in! I will call tomarow and make a reservation........ Hopefully I will be able to get on to the map site, Never did get it to come up. Hmmmm. Robin

With the number of people involved, Hart ranch has the coordinator i.e. me, handle reservations and payment, then I pay for the group in entirety. I am a bit unsure as how to handle coast to coast or RPI, so if anyone is a member, let me know and I will work the details with the resort. Members to the resort are $2.50 per day, I think I posted coast to coast and rpi rates, and I think they need that utility charge also, ($2.50). non member fees are around $21 per day.
Pamela H
Try www.hartranchresort.com and go to their site map from there.
Robin G
Pam, I still can't get to the site map..... So you are the one I need to make a reservation with. OK, hmmmm If I could get the darn map to come up I would pick a site. I will keep trying. Robin

The map should just come up. Anyone else having problems? Maybe a software problem? It is a pdf...Do you have acrobat?

Pam

Robin G
Pam, that map and I are gonna go to war! I tried every which way to save it, open it, etc................... Still no map. I also tried to go to their site and save it, open it, ect........... Still no luck! I can see the darn little thing, but can't get it to become full page. grrrrrrrrr! I am over it! So if you would pick us a site full hook ups please, 30 amp. Just so were not backed up the the bathrooms/shower cause my little fur baby would drive me to drink if she had an audience to entertain. Thanks Robin

It's a PDF. If you're on a PC, right-click the link and save the PDF to your desktop. Open in Adobe Reader. You can manipulate the zoom in Reader. If you need the free reader or an upgrade, get it here: Adobe Reader
Thom Rowland
Please count me in. I think site 304 is the one I would like.

Robin G
Thanks Donna, I think it's my Adobe Reader thats an issue. Last night I thought about it, with my new computer I don't think it's downloaded. Or if it is, I need to reload and try again. Robin
Pamela H
Ok...
So far, we have:

Pam and Dave site 350
Joe and Vivian site 331
Thom Rowland site 304
Robin site ?

Ok...we need lots more...we need to fill in some spots.

is this readable to you Robin? The sites are in the lower right hand of the map. Someone had an idea of going to the sales presentation, Hart ranch offers a 4 day 3 night for 39.95 deal, which would be cheaper than $21 per day. If there is any interest, I could check with the resort and see if they could set up a group presentation, and we would have to make sure that you are registered for the rally. The sites would be handled thru here. I would have to check for further details.

Pam, No couldn't get your link to enlarge, and never have got it to open with my computer. Actually I am over it, I have deleted and reloaded the program, still hiding the darn map. But was able to go on a friends computer and see it. And actually I really don't care what site you put me in. Just put me somewhere with a full hook up. Thanks Robin

Robin,
do you want an end site or an inner site?

Robin G
I don't care, what ever! They all look pretty much the same so whatever you want to choose is fine. Thanks! Robin
Pamela H
By the way, for those of you who are egg owner wanna-bees, there are cabins available for rent, at $36/night and up. They have cabins that will sleep 8 people, and they are very comfortable.

Pam
Lou & Lora E.
we would like to come.
we were there 8 years ago with ctoc and when we made reservations, the ladie told me that this
"is the best rv park in the country". since then we have been all over the lower 48 and we have
never been in a nicer park.
terrible herbst's in parump, nv is nice, but can't compare for size and spaciousness.
ya'll might know that this is part of the Hart Ranch. a large cattle ranch. of course in sd, they all
large. winky.gif
we were given a tour of Custer State Park by the Olsen's of Custer (she was a Ranger there)
and we went thru the buffalo herd. John told us about the round up and have wanted to go
back for that ever since.

Robin,

What about site 305?

Pam
Pamela H
All,

We need to plan some events...I have a fire ring, sometimes campfires are not allowed in the black hills. However, there is a large ring that we can reserve for Friday night. We can plan a SMORES event...or a weinie roast...and then do a potluck/dutch oven cookoff on Saturday. There is another rally at the campground at this time...should we issue a cookoff challenge? Any excellent cooks in the bunch?
woohoo.gif
Or...we can borrow an idea that Robin had, and have steaks on Friday night. What do you all think? We can also reserve the picnic shelter...

Pam
Robin G
Pam 305 works for me! Thanks Robin

As far as a cook off....................... hmmmmmm........................... Please no dutch oven cook off, I have never even had mine out of the box! So I won't be able to help you all. A Pot Luck sounds great, but since we will be a small gathering how about everyone bring their own meat and a dish to share (sides).

As for maybe getting together with the other rally going on, we could invite them for smores or let me think on this a little. When Dh and I had the resort we did a scavenger hunt with the guests one year. Ran them all over the 20 acres and around the area. They had a great time and got competitive with other campers (all in good fun) on who was going to find all the clues. Not knowing the area up there it might be difficult but we might be able to pull it off anyway. We would need to get prizes for the winners but I think we should be able to work that out. Might have to get Hart Ranch to donate a 2 night stay or something!. hmmmmm let me think about this a little bit and see what I can come up with. Robin

Maybe even a ice cream social with them?

I think the rates for RPI are $8, (plus maybe that $2.50) they had some changes on the first of Jan. They said that you make your "reservation" with me, (to get your site no.) and then call them and tell them that you are with the rally.

Oh come on, Robin...you have about 7 months to perfect that DO recipe! time to dust off the DO, take it out of the box...season it...

I got shelter 1 reserved from 4-11 on Saturday. Do you'll think that will be early enough, or would you like it for all day?

The campfire (the BIG one) is not reservable until April, but there is lots of room on a few of the sites. I have a propane fire ring, does anyone else?

The other rally is the "mile high trailblazers" you know...a scavanger hunt might be kind of fun...Any kids or pets coming? I am bringing my basset...
Robin G
Pam, if I can get thru kitchen remodel I might give it a whirl. As for us, will for sure be bringing the fur babies. Two Doxies, One is getting to where it's day by day. But the other is a for sure. I think your timing is great. Some might want to explore the area during the day so that gives them time to do so. I think a camp fire in our sites would be ok, but see what others might think. I will have to check out what Mile High Trailblazer group is about. Might be a fun thing to do to get them involved in a scavenger hunt. Let me see what I can come up with. Robin

On the thought that you had about a prize from Hart Ranch, They are looking at seeing whether or not they can donate a 2 or 3 day visit to the resort. They should get back to me in the next day or so.

Hi Pamela,

We are in the winter doldrums, so camping in SD at the end of Sept sounds great! We (Terry & Judy) would like site 303 (if it's not taken yet) from Sept 25 - Sept 28. We are not part of any groups you named, so let us know how & when to pay!
Pamela H
Ok...
So far, we have:

Pam and Dave site 350
Joe and Vivian site 331
Thom Rowland site 304
Robin site 305
Terry and Judy Jones site 303

Someone had mentioned going to the sales presentation, so I checked with Hart Ranch, and they said that they can't combine it with the rally, however, they could set one up before or after. If you do end up buying a membership, they would prorate your entire stay for the member rate of $2.50.

Pam
Bryan L.
So, is 334 the only spot that allows dogs? Am I reading that correctly? I am not sure if we well be bringing our lab or not. Hopefully not, actually! Depending on the answer, I'll give you a spot number in the next day or so.

I was told that the whole lower area is welcome for dogs. So!! Come on down! Three of us so far have decided to bring them.

We would like to reserve sites 332 and 333 for 9/25 -- 9/28. We'll park in one, (Sharon and David), and our friends, Jim and Connie who also have a fiberglass RV will take the other. Neither of us are members of other camping organizations. Please let us know how and when to pay for reservations. Looking forward to joining you!

We would like to reserve space one space either # 340, 341 or 350 if available, if not just pick a space for us. We will be arriving Sept 25 and leaving the 29th if those dates are available. Also how and who do we pay ? Thanks for your help. Lee and Norma Senn

Lee, I am the coordinator for the event, just tell me which site you prefer. You will be paying me, once we determine if you have any club memberships or not. i will be paying the resort for the whole group. I think Hart lets you go two days before and two days after, so the 29th should be fine, but that will probably be paid to the resort for that day. They don't guarantee the same spot, but that late in the year, you are probably safe.

No worries, Lee! I have some great news...Hart Ranch is throwing in a certificate for a 4 day 3 night stay for a prize for our treasure hunt...so Robin! Scratch your head and lets put something neat together! Also...we need to fill up...don't want the other rally to be bigger than ours. They have 15 spots reserved, we currently have 25 with 8 taken! I was thinking, we are looking at a pot luck, treasure hunt and marshmallow roast...do you want to plan an excursion to deadwood-(for those who gamble or just want to see the sites), or a trip to Mt. Rushmore...and of course, there is the buffalo round up. (or for those adventursome types, all of the above?)

Vivian
Last year the Buffalo Roundup included a chili cook off as part of the festivities...not that I want to cook chili...but they can be fun to attend, so we might keep that tucked in the back of the mind as a possible event to include. There is so much to do in the Black Hills that we will never cover it all!
Robin G
Pam, I think just letting people see some sights would be good to, since it's just a few days long we don't want to plan to much. So are we going to invite the other rally to join the scavenger hunt? If so can I get some info on who they are, What their group is about such as are they just a bunch of people who camp together or are they a group of Airstreams, retired Military, Chruch group or ?. Thanks! Robin

Oh, you can add Dh's name to the list............... Poor guy, I should put him in my member info. His name is Rod

The other group is the mile-high trailblazers. I don't have a contact name, if everyone is willing, I can see if hart ranch will release that info. If we end up filling up, it will be a lot of people playing for one prize...plus being trailblazers...they might have more get up and go then our "got up and went..." roflol.gif

Does everyone want to do a breakfast...i.e. coffee and pastries/whatever on Saturday-Monday? We have a Camp Chef major stove, so we can feed alot of people...we would all probably have to chip in a bit to cover costs if you want to. I have a central campsite, with lots of room...so I think we could cover the floor space.
Robin G
Pam, I was actually going to try and get other prizes to award. I am thinking that I should be able to gather some stuff from Colorado Rv related businesses due to the fact that the other rally is primarily from Colorado. I am sure during these economic times most donations will be of the coffee cup/lawn chair type but it's all about the fun anyway, so really just need others to speak up and tell us what they prefer. So do you guys want to have a scavenger hunt within just our Rally or would you like to invite the other Rally to join the fun?

Thom, I was thinking that we needed to spread the info as well, I am sure Pam wont mind but you may want to Pm her. Is anyone else a Casita Group member? I don't go there often so if someone does that would help to spread the word about the rally. That way we can Partttttttty!

Pam Norma and I will be attending two gatherings , April 24/26 at Waterloo County Park, Oregon ( near Lebanon Oregon ) and then July 16/19 at Bullard's Beach State Park ( near Bandon Oregon ). Both of these are unfortunately full at the moment. Anyway we would like, with your permission of course, to extend and invitation to attendees at these gatherings to come join us in the Black Hills and maybe fill some of our vacant spots? Lee
