I have to agree...my husband and I were planning on attending when the posting first appeared, but after further checking and finding it was during the work week, we found that we couldn't go. We're bummed, but we'll find another rally. Maybe on the weekend next year??
Roy in TO
I'm wondering from those that can only make it on the weekend if anybody else might consider extending this rally over the weekend. The retiree's could get things going on Monday, then the second shift of workee's could wind things down over the weekend.

Problem is, we wouldn't get paid time and a half for doing it ;-)

But can't do it unless we do it on a weekend. lets all check our calanders and see what we can do.

I will call Dick on Wed and see if he would not mine some late comers to his Rally and then check to see if there is any open sites. I will get back to you with all the info.
Tim Wood
I might just make this one myself, if I still have the Horizon that is. And usually we go to the Adirondacks late Sept. / 1st of Oct. But I will have to keep it in mind.
Heath G.
Rick, We looked at the website for the campground and it looked as if there were plenty of openings. I have never organized a rally let alone attended one so any advise yuo have would be nice, you can post the info here, pm me or E-Mail me at heathguerin[at]gmail.com

Not sure Rick, Carol Ann mentioned to me after reading this thread that the Niagara meet held at about the same time was planned to coincide with a wine festival. Alf might be able to give a better answer.
Heath G.

My wife has us booked the 18th and 19th. If we get enough fiberglassers we could have a pot luck dinner and a wine tour etc. Looking forward to meeting you and your wife.

Alf S posted that the Niagara Wine Tour 2009 is not going to happen this year. That should free up a few of the Canadian contingency for this weekend.

Lets hope that everybody has their passports ready, if not there is ample time to get them. As for us, after finally making it through a very Calendar filled June and July the topic of what to do for the rest of the camping season just came up in our household. We will have to sit down with our calendars and look at our options while matching our availabililty to our obligations. Don't count us in or out just yet, hope to know in a week or two.

I hope to see you and any others for the weekend. We have so few Fiberglass rallies here in the Northeast it would be nice to have some more times we can get together.

Let's do roll call on this one.

Who's coming?
When are you coming?
What sites are you booked for?

I'm looking at the reservation map and trying to pick a site that puts us with the rest of you.

Hi Carol Ann, My wife Candy and I can't make it during the week but we have site #24 booked for sept. 18th and 19th, saturday and sunday.

Roy in TO
We've booked in 2 humans and a large dog. Arriving Thursday 17th, depart Sunday 20th. Site 6.

We'll catch the tail end of the regular weekday meet and carry on with the impromptu weekend meet.

Bill K
I will be there Mon. - Fri. Since this is my first rally and I don't know how well I will like it I am going to wait and see. If I am enjoying myself I will see if I can extend even if I have to move.

We are hoping to make it but we aren't making reservations until our passports arrive. Our grandaughter is also scheduled for a kidney transplant about that time so we have to wait and see on the date for that. Does anyone know how much the sites are and are they both hydro and water?

Let's start with best wishes for your grandaughter.

We booked for three nights and including the reservation fee it was $80. (US)
The sites have electricity but not water hook-ups. At least I didn't see any indication of water.

We were hoping to head to the Southwest, but must delay that trip a year. We will be there from Wednesday through Sunday with Belle our very active rat terrier. Looking forward to seeing many of you again and meeting new eggers.wine.gif

I stayed there a couple years ago. On some of the sites, the power pole was quite far away from the site proper. I backed way up (off the gravel pad) to get my 50' of cord to reach. I don't know if all the sites were like that but you might toss in an extra extension cord. You might not need it but....

We have site 14 in the 4-30 loop reserved from Monday to Friday. We have 15 amp power but it dosen't mention anything about water. The fee for the five days including reservation fees was $118.00.
Hope to see everyone there.

I checked my camping log and I misspoke. I stayed at Evangola SP, some miles east of Lake Erie SP. My advice, while well intentioned, was uninformed OH.gif

I would still pack an extension cord because some of the poles are far away

Hi all, and glad to see we might have a few for the after rally on the weekend. look forward to seeing all of you. I was wondering of there are any pics of this campsite floating around out there and if anyone knows if they allow srap wood to be brought in from oput of state. I use old pallets I have taken nails out of. most places don't mind but there are allways exeptions.
Roy in TO
Heath,

There are lots of pictures on Google images, search for "lake erie state park".

I could not find a specific answer to your question on pallet wood. Here is a link to what NY has to say about firewood:
http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/28722.html

And a link to the FAQ's:
http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/44008.html

The latter has a toll free # and email address where you can ask this question.

As for me, I'll buy what's at the park. When we crossed the border into the USA in late July, they specifically asked about importing firewood since we had a trailer.
Barbara Gardin
We got our passports this week but unfortunately we are unable to attend. Our grandaughter's surgery has now been scheduled for the 15th of September and since our daughter is the donor we have double visiting to do. We will look forward to next year.

Here is the agenda and notes for the Lake Erie Fiberglass Rally

They are name tags that you wear, but I guess you could hang them from your trailer!
Ed D
For those New Yorkers planning on bringing firewood please note that you can transport wood only within a radius of 50 miles. You will need a Self-Issued Certificate for Transport and Possession of New York-Sourced Untreated Firewood for Personal Use. Roy in TO posted a link to the DEC website where this form can be found. Just print it out and fill in the spaces. I talked to the DEC and was told you might be asked to produce this certificate at the campground. Better safe than sorry! The form is quite simple and self-explanetory. Ed D

That's good Heath.
I have been speaking with Rick and he knows of a local place for firewood. We can pick up what we need in my pick up.

Dick ...
Do we have an idea of how many will be at the pot luck dinner on Friday? We were wondering how many we were providing for.

Hi All,
Looking forward meeting everyone. We'll be there Monday. We are bringing some firewood with us.

Thanks to the Freeds and all their friends for a perfect week. Dan and Donna
Roy in TO
I wanted to thank the Freeds et. al. for their hospitality. Though we joined in at the end and stayed a little longer with others there was lots to do and see. At it's peak there were 20 some odd trailers in a small but very nice park for a meet. The pot luck was very good and the Saturday morning donuts a very nice touch.

Something about these fiberglass campers, no matter where you go they seem to a great bunch of people. I'd highly recommend this meet to those in Southern Ontario that like to do their fall wine runs since there are a number of local wineries that have tours. I'm hoping that who ever is taking over for Dick and Lynda will be able to follow in their footsteps creating such a nice meet.

The weather was great and the sunsets a photographers dream.
steve w
we would like to thank dick and linda for taking the time to organize this and also for last year.i dont think we would have been out this fall if it werent for them.also thanks to steve for taking the group picture,it makes it easier to remember all the nice people we have met and also to wayne, the resident pyromaniac for the campfires!
thanks again.

I would also like to thatnk everyone for a great time. This was our first rally and I hope not our last. My wife Candy is new to camping all together. She said this was a wonderful experince and looks forward to more. everyone was so nice and also helpfull to us first timers. We were not able to make it during the week but were there for the weekend. It was so nice to be able to sit with a group of people of all differents ages, back gournds, and different views on all sorts of topics. To just sit around a fire and have good conversation with everyone was greate. these little campers have a way of just bringing everyone together and relax. We are looking forward to the next time we can do this. Thanks again to the Freed's for hosting this event.

I would also like to know if anyone has any pic's posted on this event.
