Well a friend came to me and said he had bought a Scamp - he was redoing his set-up and doing a permanent bed in the back and replacing the bunks with a new dinette in front.

He made the front dinette table out of plywood - - but I had to share my little change to his plain plywood cut-out.

The new front dinette table - - owner hasn't seen it yet - So I don't have a photo of it installed yet - but figured I would post it here and see what everyone thinks of it.

I know the question will come up - - - how much does it weigh.... 8lbs... I just weighed it on my scale...

Maybe in the off season - I might have to offer up some custom front dinette tables for sale on here...

Faux finish? Contact paper? Plastic marble stuff?

Well would you believe - - CONCRETE

yup

4 thin thin layers of mixed concrete brushed on with a brush - then colored - then topped with an epoxy...

I have it in my utility room in my house, and well my house and my parents house - - but starting to look at campers - and boats - as it adds hardly any weight what so ever...

just simple MDF 3/4" here - with 2" edge nailed on the front -

To save weight on mine, I'll be using 1/2" with a 3" front to make it seem super thick....

Now - if I just had time....

Wow, I had no idea concrete would be that lightweight! I supposed you can make it any color you want. What a great idea!

That's a fascinating process you used, and it looks great, like stained and highly polished concrete formed and poured. What kind of concrete did you use? And, just how thin is thin? Concrete stain? Did you apply the epoxy as a sealer, to prevent cracking, or is the color in the epoxy?
Concrete floors and countertops are very "hot" right now. Interesting way to lighten up the project.

Tim, Just wondering here, but is there anyway to make this counter top like for a kitchen in a garage? Then move it into the kitchen when the counter top is done ? Like you would a prefab or custom made.

Yes - but you can do it right in place - -

I did this on my kitchen countertop - right over my old laminate - why tear out your old countertop when you can recylce it, go over it with a new one?
