I have a 1978 Trillium 1300 in need of a replacement door latch, lock set. Do you know if the Bargman L400 is what I need?

Yes, these are "Ultra-Rare" to come by "NEW". The good news is yours is either a Bargman L200 or L300 which are still made and I have seen them on ebay "New" for $50 to $70 fairly often. The Bargman L400 "NEW" have gone for over $200. I got lucky just after Christmas and got a BRAND NEW one for only $71.00. I turned around and sold my old L400 on ebay and it fetched $125.00 used from 1978! Good Luck and "Happy Camping" SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Doug for the referral on Bargman L400 locks. I talked to the man who had a new one for sale, and he wanted a lot for it. So, that spurred me into action that I had been putting off: I called a local locksmith (about 4miles from our house) last Friday to see if our current latch/lock could be repaired. They were only going to be open until 1 so, I quickly removed the broken one and we rushed over with the lock. Indeed it was a Bargman 10-40-010 (the rare rectangular one). He took the lock, didn't say anything--and disappeared into the backroom. About 5 minutes later he reappeared, laid an identical one on the counter and said "Would you be interested in this used one w/keys for twenty bucks?? Jackpot!!!! And we kept the old door latch/lock for spare parts. It was a Good Friday miracle! I have it installed and it is working great. The door closes tighter now with a latch that is not badly worn like the old one. So, there still is a new one available. Refer to Doug's earlier entry if interested.

Doug - Is the L400 lockset include the complete carriage frame or just the internal parts.

Even as we speak/type, I am up here in Mackenzie with his remaining Bargman L400 series ONE last remaining new in the box (with keys) Bargman L400 series lock. His asking price is $200.00. See his info in above thread(s). Unless your door or doorjamb has been butchered by previous owner, this lockset should just plunk right in!!!!
