Full Version: 1972 Compact Jr., for trade
FiberglassRV > For Sale > Molded Fiberglass Travel Trailers Wanted
Pat Ruberto
We have a 1972 Compact Jr., that we are looking to trade for another fiberglass trailer. It needs some work on the inside and my husband got a back and neck injury at work and cannot do all the work. We are looking to trade for another trailer that might be a little easier to restore.

Yes, it can be towed, as long as you have the hitch. It weighs about 800 pounds.

What does it say in your owner's manual? Remember, it's not just the weight of the trailer, it's the weight of all your "stuff" too and that can really add up depending on your "needs."

The trailer will be empty for her purposes of towing it. Thus, it weighs 800 pounds.

I guess I misunderstood then. Are you saying she's only going to tow it around and not use it for camping? The trailer may be able to be towed when it's empty based on the trailer weight, but by time she adds food, clothing, personal items it may be above the recommended tow weight for her tug.

I was strictly giving her the weight of the trailer, unloaded. How do I know how much weight she is going to put in to it? That would be her estimate. My estimate was only for purposes of the weigh of the trailer without camping gear. Is that alright with you? 91.gif

Of course it is and you'll notice in my first post I was answering Julie. There's more to "towing" than having a hitch. That's why I was asking her "What does it say in your owner's manual?" For instance, it may very well say the most her Tracker can tow is 1,000 lbs (and that is the limit for the four-banger). An 800 lb trailer doesn't leave much room for camping "stuff."

Here's a WikiAnswer about one of the Chevy Tracker towing capacities: WikiAnswers

Also what are you asking to sell this straight out rather than a trade? And lastly where is it located?
