Full Version: White LED lights at Princess Auto

I just walked out of the Kitchener Princess auto with a 12 volt white LED light that is on sale for $9.99 (actually, I bought a bunch). I put them on a meter at work and found they only draw 100 milliamps.

There are 16 leds in each and they look like they would throw less light than a conventional bulb but enough for relaxing background lighting.

At 100ma you could turn on 10 of these and equal one conventional bulb at one amp.

The fixtures have a switch and are not bad looking, 4" diameter, white base.

Optronics 16 cool white LM-1604C bar code 7286 78005

Warning, I have not tried these in the Boler at night !!!!!!!!

I think Kevin may have tried them.

I found some info on them at optronics, they are an interior Marine light.

Looks interesting. Odd that Kevin got higher current draws than you. I wonder if they are the same?

OK, I did a search plus been driving myself crazy looking for the other person who had used what seem to be the same LED bulbs and had posted pictures of them. He had used 2 sided tape to hold them in place and there was a discussion about maybe using velro instead.

helpme.gif Help, I can't find it. It must be imbedded in some remodel thread that I haven't found as yet.

Any way, I'm looking for it because I wondered if they had gotten their LED's somewhere else and what was the cost. Any cheaper than $20 that Princess auto charges???

I bought two of those lights from CDN Tire two years ago for my 74 Boler.

I used them to replace the two dome rv lights that were on either side of my cupboard that is above the sink and stove.

The look great and give off enough light, and like you said, they don't use alot of power.

I'm attatching 2 pics. I shows the light mounted to the right side of the cupboard and the other you can kind of see the light on inside. It's not really dark out enough, but you can see a bit of the light shining out.

They give off the typical blueish light thats commom with LEDS. I also painted my ensolite white, so it reflects alot of the light within the boler.
