Hi, This coming summer is my first full summer with our 1972 Boler. We plan to do a lot of camping but camp in provincial parks and forest service campgrounds only. These places normally do not have water connections and many do not have pressurized water available. So I am considering loading up on water before heading out but only if I am not planning any trips with BIG climbs or descents (but we do live in the middle of British Columbia which does limit us). How do full water tanks affect the towing?

Your typical tank is 8-10 gallons, that should only add 100 lbs of weight max. It should not be a problem. Others have posted solutions to filling your tank while camping. They use water thiefs, pumps, or simply smaller jerry cans meant for water.

Or fill up when you get closer to the camping destination. I'd be more concerned about the drop in MPG just to move water down the highway.

Chris, I do like Donna suggested, and fill up when close or even at the campground, Just carry a hose with me, before pulling into our site I pull up and get water. Thankfully so far, I haven't had to do with out. I pretty much read up on the campground we will be in and plan from there. I have even pulled into Private campgrounds and paid to fill up. Worth it to me, as they don't charge much and I don't have to have extra weight climbing mountains. Robin

towing with water is a debate similar to towing with the gas on.

I personally avoid doing it because it adds weight.. reducing milage and increasing wear and tear on my tug.

The slosh factor also is quite noticeable with my set up (Small tug, big trailer)

My last trip out I had forgotten my shower pump for transferring water from campground filled rolling water tote to my tank. I simply poured water into the tank by hand with a funnel. Took a little longer, but there are many ways to bathe a cat...

Number one.... Throw cat in lake, run away.
Number two.....Acquire a full suite of medi evil armour to protect self from multi evil cat.
