Full Version: replaced front bunk

I posted some photos of my Boler bunk replacement. I have had the trailer for about five years. When I bought it it had a toilet room installed. IMHO a 13 foot trailer does not have enough room for this modification. I had to rebuild the bench and replace all the glass on the left half of the bench. The bunk back had been removed and a set of drawers were placed where the front bench was on the right hand side. In short, it was a mess. I have been intending this rebuild for several years. I had a piece of plywood as a seat for the past three or four years so this month was the time to get it done.

If you build the hinge like I did be sure to get the support board that is attached to the seat back in the proper location. If it is too close to the outside (bottom) of the seat back the left hand hinge will not clear the counter top because the seat back has to be lifted above level to unfold the support leg. (Clear as mud?) I will try to figure out why I can't post photos with comments here.

Quite clear. I had the privilege of helping a nother Scamper with his design which eliminates the down legs altogether with legs that swung out horizontally and locked to a support on the cabinet and one on the "short wall" by the door. both of these seem to be fine ideas .
I was thinking maybe your design could be modified by making telescoping legs like on canes or crutches!

That looks fantastic. We will be adding a bunk to our Boler and this looks right up my hubbies alley.

Do you have a parts list and or template you are willing to share?

Cheers,

Ursula

Marty:
Think of it like this: Post Comments with Photos here. confuse.gif

While you're in the composing window, after you upload your photos, go back and click on "Manage attachments" and a drop down list will show what you've uploaded successfully. Click on the Green mini icon in that list to "Pin" the photo to your post. Then, ensure there is a space between and you can add comments either beside, or after the photo...

I pit crew for a Ford powered dirt modified It's one of the perks I get! The other is beer drinking with the boys on Saturday night. The down side is rebuilding the sheetmetal, front stubs replaceing rear ends and all the other wrecked stuff week after week etc etc. This season has been easy as we have switched to old man rules. We race when the car is ready and we are all able to attend. No more two man crews and working till 1 or 2 in the AM three nights a week just to rece on Saturday. The season is about 8 weeks old and we ran three nights so far! One top 3 finish.
