OK, this is my first venture into a forum. We recently purchased a 13' Scamp and the spare tire was stored inside for safekeeping. Question: is the tire secured at the back on the three mounting bolts with stem side out (making the tire nest right up to the exterior wall of the trailer) or does it bolt with valve stem in so that the tire has some marginal clearance from the exterior wall of the trailer.
Also, I've read where its recommended to get a WDH for the Honda Odyssey which we will be using to tow the little beast. Is it really required, since we are out of warranty on the Honda. I'll say having this little pod is a far cry from the 30' fifth wheel with slide out and beefy 1-ton Ford. We'll know after our first venture out this weekend.

Yes, secured to back wall. Stem side out (so you can conveniently check the tire pressure). Bolt the tire snug to the back of the trailer. Some members have complained about scuffing the gel coat. There are some solutions for that, but you don't want the tire loose as it will put strain on the back wall when the trailer bounces.

A Weight Distributing Hitch is recommended for the Honda Odyssey IF you need to tow the maximum 3500 pound capacity. If I am reading my Honda Odyssey owner's manual correctly, and If your trailer is at or below 1850 pounds, a Weight Distributing Hitch is NOT required. I think a 13' Scamp should meet that limit, but I advise you to weigh it yourself to be sure.
