For those not familiar with the area, it is off Hwy 12, east of the town of Morton, south of Mt. Rainier, and at the eastern end of Riffe Lake, (which is a large Tacoma Power Co. reservoir.)
Everyone who attended last year liked it there, and this year they will also have a lot more room since they just recently opened up a whole new section of campsites. All brand new facilities, bathrooms, showers, full hook-ups, etc. Many of us "walked" through the area when we were there last year to check it out...really first class!
Start booking reservations!
I've reserved site # 210, Friday, June 4th - Monday, June 7th, 2010.

Reservations are open for a June 4, 2010 arrival at Taidnapum.
We reserved 217 for Friday - Sunday.
Note: It looks like about 1/2 of the sites in the new loop are listed as 'Maximum Equipment = Van/Camper'. They're probably big enough for an Egg, but they might not want to reserve them for you

Mike & Sandy will be in site 223 with "Benedict" - arrive Thurs. the 3rd leave Monday the 7th.
The site description says it has more than average foot traffic, presumably due to site proximity to the restroom/showers.
We wil be setting up a toll booth....be sure to bring lots of quarters! ;-)
Mike
PS: Note to Willar - I requested the site for a "less than 18 foot trailer", and the reservation was confirmed for this "Max. 18-34 foot" RV site, so there should be no worry about getting the big sites for our "small footprint" trailers.
Also, the reservation form asks for discount status, and the senior discount is shown as "Tacoma Senior". However, I think that only means the senior discount for this park is whatever Tacoma Public Utilties decide to grant for their parks....you don't have to be a Tacoma resident or a TPU employee.

TAIDNAPAM MAP & RESERVATIONS LINK:
https://secure.camis.com/WA/Taidnapam-Tacom...107&200-288SHAREN & SIMON, along with Keeper & True, have reserved site #226 at Taidnapam for Thurs-Sunday, 3 nights, June 3, 4, and 5, departing on June 6. Thanks Greg for getting this ball rolling. While we loved the OTHER section of Taidnapam, it'll be fun to give this NEWER section a try as well. It's a GREAT PARK. Bring your fishin' poles!
It's a bit difficult finding the link at the WA State Parks site, so I posted the direct link to the Taidnapam map above.
Those of you who qualify (+62 y/o) be sure to check your senior status for a good discount. Mine represented about $15 discount on a 3-night stay.
So, see y'all at NOG next month, then we'll mothball the cramper for the winter. Come April 2010 we'll be at SilverFalls, then Taidnapam... all my life's a circle...
This weekend we're headed down to Grayland State Park for Thurs-Sunday, the ANNUAL Grayland to Tokeland GArage Sale weekend.
Till we meet again, happy cramping!

Maureen, Magan and I will be in site 274. We chose this site as it is next to the large field for the potluck events. I remember looking at the sites last year. I would not believe them when they say they are large enough for a truck camper. 54 feet long will fit all from our group.

Added event to calendar. Come on, people. Taidnapam is a beautiful park maintained in great condition, even had flowers in the rest rooms last year! The section most of us are in is brand new this year. It is a Tacoma Power park which I have found to be first class. Taidnapam is just 5 miles east of Morton, WA on US Hwy 12.
http://www.mytpu.org/tacomapower/parks-rec...dnapam-park.htmTake exit 68 on I-5 then 31.5 miles east to Morton.
http://washington.hometownlocator.com/wa/lewis/morton.cfmOnly 16.5 miles from Elbe, WA gateway to Mt Rainier National Park.
http://www.gonorthwest.com/Washington/cascades/Elbe/Elbe.htm Just checked, (26 Dec 20009) only 29 sites available in new section.

What we liked about this park (besides the great company last year at the rally) is that the "new" section has paved flat spots for your rig with amenities and tall trees surround..we've been back 3 times after the last egg rally and it's quite a distance to drive for us, that's how much we like it!!!
here's the new!

Greetings everyone,
Our Spring plans have changed, so we hope to join you all! We booked 207 for Thu - Mon. Looking forward to seeing everyone (and this park - it looks beautiful). Is this lake good for paddling or is there too much motorized traffic?
Happy Trails,

Hi,
I've never been to this park. Which is a good site to book and do these sites have electric hook-ups?
I would be interested in coming down if i can get the time off work. Thanks, Marina

Just a "bump" to bring this thread back up into the light again...we're about 5 months out now...time to start looking forward to summertime! Many spaces still left, but they'll start going fast because this is a very popular place. Don't wait too long to book your site! (June 4th through June 7th).

Ah Greg, you sure know how to rub it in! We can't make it this year, seems like it's a bi-annual event for us. Couldn't make the first one, made it to the second and now we'll miss the third get-together. Guess we'll see you in 2011!!

Laura & Rick, you mean we won't get to see your brand new Escape? Darn!

One can also come down Hwy 7 from Tacoma. It is picturesque although I even had to shift into 2nd at times because of the tight curves and steep hills.

Roger, the Escape is one super fine trailer! A lot more room than our Casita, elbow and headroom wise, plus more storage. We, actually my son, had Tammy and Reace (owners of the company) add some custom upgrades, which is a trademark of the company. We went with the 19 footer as it met our needs better. The Escape 17B is similar to the 17'Casita, but has a better layout and more elbow room. We just can't say enough about now good the Escape is!

Hi Barb,
I'd like to update it, but I don't have access to the list in post #16 on this thread. That was posted by Roger C H.
Only he, or perhaps Donna, can update the list.
On the upside, you'll finally get to meet my better half, who will be joining me on this year's trip. (For those of you who thought I was always just making her up...she really does exist! LOL). It'll be fun to be able to have her with me on a campout for a change. (I'm retired, but she still has to work for a living, poor girl!)

Greg, tell me about missing the get-together and not being able to meet Brenda. When we attended the Oregon Gathering last July, Chuck (aka, Deb & Chuck) pointed out the Escape to me. I liked it right from the start. Laura also liked it. When we retuned home, we ran some numbers and maybe made a few “excuses” and made a trip to Chilliwack for a second look. As they say, the rest is history. All I can say is beware of what you may see at these fiberglass get-togethers/gratherings/rallies!!
Give me a call or drop a PM and we’ll do lunch.

Hi All you fiberglass trailer owners!
I pick up my brand new custom made (thanks Tammy and Reace) 2010 15' Escape Friday. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself.
I will miss the Spring NOG because of a conference at work, and I thought Bullards Beach would be the first time I would have a chance to show off the new trailer. But then I read about this gathering and decided to join you. I am in space 277.
See you all there!

Hello Taidnapum Friends!
Simon & Sharen checking in to say Hey and Happy Spring! Don't tell anybody but we (meaning Oregoneons & Washingtonians) did enjoy the KINDEST WINTER in the whole bleepin' country, right? (OK OK, so not counting Hawaii!) Now a warm and sunny Spring is bloomin' all around us. Spring it on!
But, shhhhhhhhhhh! Our Casita cramper still sleeps - hibernating under the protection of a wonderful, breathable whatchamacallit... oh, that thang Greg Finke sold us for pennies on the dollar. He practically GAVE it to us... the Casita cover. (See image attached.)

Greg, thank you for selling this to us. We don't have a hard-shelter for the cramper, so the next best thing is this breathable Casita cover, and it's worked like a charm.
Barbara B I will be emailing you soon honeybunch... Garage Sale season is just beginning to rev up! Hooray!
Hope this note finds EVERYONE very well. I have a new "cornpone" recipe I'm eager to try out in the DO - a recipe given to me by a real Texan, so it's is gooo-oooood!
Be seeing some of you at NOG, and others at this WA state meet-up. Looking forward to our spring roadtrips and gatherings.
Cheers,
Sharen & Simon
