exactly.gif I have never been to Lassen Volcanic Nat'l Park. I would like to do so sometime in the future, not this year.

Have any of you guys camped/visited there?

Where would be the place to stay?

PS I am a firm believer in staying in the parks. No, RV Resorts for me!

Thanx.gif

As you can see, we do not need a huge spot to light.

Adrian,

We loved it.....in July.....

My log is 550 miles from me but we stayed in the park, it was a nice campground (rustic). If I remember there were a few campgrounds and the one we were in was the best, but I can't remember off hand the name of that one. Whenever in July we were there was the first day a trail (Bumpass Hell) my husband wanted to hike was open.

You need to do some research to see if the time you want to go is doable.

Bring food. We tend to travel very light and eat out a lot. There wasn't any food nearby so we had to make a long drive to find a place to eat.

We have tented there many times. It is a great place. Good day hiking, lots of thermal activity and you can climb the volcano 40.gif . Lots of well done info and things to see and do. Also close to other volcano parks.

There are gas and groceries available in the park.

There are two camping spots we have used. One is in the saddle at 8,000 feet. It is very rustic, mostly tents, no hook ups, on a small lake, lots of wildlife, dome toilets. There was still snow on the ground in mid June. The other ,Manzanita, campground (South entrance, I think), lower elevation on a lake, has showers. I don't know about hook-ups but I have seen bulge mobiles here.

In May you might get snow. June through September should be no problem. It gets very cold at night in the upper elevations and can be in the 90,s during the day so layering is good thing.

It is really worth seeing, go for it! woohoo.gif

Wonderful park. Check the weather/conditions before you go. Much of the park tends to be under snow for a large part of the year, but even in the snow a hike to the top of Lassen is great! h47.gif
