Brought home my new(new to me) Trailer today

A red and white 74 Perris Pacer, for $1500

I'm so stoked to finally get one of these. You see about six months ago i saw My first Boler trailer on the freeway and I thought that trailer is perfect for me and my family.

Up untill now we have been camping in a vintage tent trailer and have had a blast with it but then I saw the Boler and decided a little more comfort would be great. So I started scouring the Internet, Well first i knew where I had seen one before(not knowing what it was at the time) at a local storage place so I did some investigating only to find out they didnt want to sell it.

So I finaly found this one on Craigslist through a friend of mine, went to look at it did a little negociating and brought the sucker home.

Can't wait to get some pictures on here hopfully by tomorow.

Nice Find!

A 1974 might be one of the first years produced and could provide a missing link in the history of these. I'm wondering where you picked up the "minit" to add to your topic title?

I'd love to see some pictures of anything that details the manufacturing labels for clues. Any documentation would be a bonus. Maybe you can provide some info to what we have been able to determine of the history of these trailers so far.

I love that model of the VW. Both are rare finds, you'll be a hit at any shine and show.

Hey Thanks

I got the Vw From Family Along with a Convertable Karmann Ghia, But getting Back to

the Topic I Called it a Minit because it has the minit logo by the door and I have some

Original Litt that the guy gave me when i bought the Trailer

I scanned the Paperwork Here it is
JasonWesterman
Here is the Back of one and the Front and Back of what seems to be a newer Brochure
JasonWesterman
To me It seems like Perris Valley Bought these Trailers form The company that made the Minit and put there logos and Vin plates on them But its just a guess, or maybe they just borrowed the name.

In the Gallery the Minit and the Perris Pacer Pics are very similar.

Im not sure hot true it is but i read online that the minit was made By Beta Industries in Washington state

Hopefully the paperwork Will help Fill some holes In the Info

THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting the old paper work to the Perris Pacer!!! I just bought my 1988 Pacer last month! This is so much fun seeing the brochures about this camper!

I like the Idea of a different tug too.....mines a 67 ranchero.and I'm trying to find a 66/67 fairlane wagon like it to use instead..save wear and tear on my groundup resto......your setups cool....Bruce

Great stuff Jason!

The way it is written makes me wonder if the "Minit" model was the name of a package option (like the boler Voyager) or a carry over from the Minit trailer by Beta Design.

Thank you for sharing. The pricing just shows how these trailers hold their value. Barring inflation, a trailer that sold for $2 grand brand new can be used and sold 35+ years later for at least the same or much more if in excellent condition.

Another clue to the correlation between the Pacer and the Minit is that quilted vinyl interior! I haven't seen it used on any other trailers but these two brands... kissin' cousins if nothing else.

Yeah I also have a 72 bus that will I eventually tow with, in addition to the truck I'll probably even paint the bus to match the trailer it's orange and white now.

I have seen some Compact Js with that vinyl quilted stuff.

Wow, a Datsun 280Z for a tow vehicle. Well, I've seen Vegas in other ads roflol.gif

Looks like you got "Wimbledon White" over "Pennant Red" Nice!

Way to go Jason. You did well. I like the Tug & Tow combo and that huge side window sure beats mine all to heck.
We don't see too many 'Gia convertables around here either.
Tom Trostel
The Perris Pacer quilted vinyl is very similar to the vinyl used in the late model Compact Jr.s. The difference is the Perris diamond pattern is sown with two stitch lines and the CJ has a single stitch line. The Perris looks like a nice trailer!

Hi Jason,
You've done a good job and it looks great.

Now, when you kick back and you are happy with the inside, just think, you can consider this. I found this custom rig while we were staying at the Teklanika Campground In Denali National Park, this last summer. The owner told me that he bought the rig with the left front and side burned out. He did a good job. This is the 3rd year for the custom look. The wood is attached with screws and adhesive.
JasonWesterman
Hey thanks

that thing is crazy I hope he has a dry place to store it I couldn't imagine sanding and staining that beast every few years or so.

I got the new floor screwed down last night.
I'll post a new pic later.

Anyone know where to get the little rubber channel that covers up the window screws? I want to replace the screws or maybe even reseal the window but I'm not sure where to get that rubber. Mine is all hard a brittle it just breaks to pieces when I try to remove it.
Raya L.
I think that channel is fairly common to RVs and can be found at various RV stores (online or in real life).

I'd make a specific recommendation but it comes in various sizes and profiles.

I think if you Google something like "vinyl RV insert molding" you'll come up with some examples.

Dang, you're one speedy, hard working new owner! I'm super impressed!!!
JasonWesterman
Tore out two layers of lino from the main floor today. Also removed the front bed base area so the new floor can go underneath. Oh I also sprayed undercoating on the storage areas unders the seats in the dinnete area that way when I store my bedding under there it won't get any fiberglass fibers on them I'll post some pics maybe tonight or tomorow for sure
