I lent my trailer out to a friends houseguest. Aparently the guest found that both ends of the bed were wet, the foot side(by sink) the most. it had poured all w/e, but i have been in the rain before and not experienced this. when i picked it up the bed ends were soaked, but the walls were all wet with condensation as well so i know that was a factor. i am wondering if condensation alone would soak the bed ends or could i have a leak as well? My friend failed to pass on the info on opening a window or the vent so it was closed up all w/e. oops. Thanks for the input

Yep, condensation can soak a bunk. Our FiberStream has bare, painted walls and ceiling (soon to be insulated) and we found out last week what inside rain could be like. We loaded the trailer in the middle of the gully washer that went through CA on the 12th and 13th . Had a lot of wet stuff in the trailer. It took a week of wiping wet walls and rain from the ceiling before everything dried out. The mattresses got wet just like you described. After drying the mattresses outside we used large trash bags (a must) and extra towels where they made contact with the walls. No condensation where there was insulation, though. We used a heater and lots of ventilation and so far (hope hope hope) no mold.

I remember waking up one morning with water dripping on my head We had the heater on & it was pretty cold outside, so there was quite a bit of condensation. We usually make sure the windows are cracked, which seems to cut down on the amount of condensation. We have gotten used to having a certain amount of it & I just wipe around the windows with a paper towel in the morning.

thanks for the input everyone. I will have to get out myself just to check. i always crack a window and leave the roof vent open. ive installed a roof fan, but havent yet used it in the winter, only summer. i liked what i read earlier today about the under mattress venting platforms. i will be getting some of those tiles.

It's always a good idea to take a few minutes with "guests" and let them know particulars on the trailer. If for no other reason than the experience you described here.

i did go over it with my friend but unfortunately he did not relay this info to the guest. oh well. i'm sure its dry by now.
