Hello! New member here. Husband and I just bought a 1977 Scamp that we are working on redoing. We started a blog about out progress and adventures (with pictures!). Thanks for the great forum, I'm sure we'll be asking some questions soon!

Congrats on your Scamp! I'm sure you'll have fun working on it and getting it just the way you want it. I love to see everyone's modifications because I get lots of good ideas! Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Happy trails!

welcome2.gif Danielle and Lewie! Glad you found FGRV and congrats on your new-to-you Egg. We'll always remember the thrill of picking up our Scamp 13, which is just right for us. It will be fun to follow your rehab project on your blog. We wish you safe journeys and many happy memories - L 'n D

welcome2.gif Congrats! Enjoy! And please keep the pic's coming as you make progress on your projects. Don't work to hard!

May I suggest one thing? If the foam from the cushions isn't dry and brittle I would save it and reuse. It's very expensive to replace. You can easily make or have made new covers, but if the foam is at all worth keeping, I would wash it and reuse it. ( I have washed in the washing machine and let air dry. Best of luck on your projects.

Hey,

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. It will be fun!

I think after taking of our current cushions and looking at them we will keep the foam. For some reason I thought they were in bad shape but I was wrong, they'll be fine. You're right, they are expensive!

Thanks, I got it. I think I'm going to try with the fabric I have and see how far I get. The fabric we are removing has burn holes in it and is all torn up. I think it's actually old Scamp fabric. It's nice, I'll keep it in mind!

Just started on our wooden flor yesterday and finished painting the inside. It's starting to come together! Two pictures are the before and after paint.

Sure is looking great. One word of advice. Take your time and just don't hurry yourself. Get in a hurry and you make mistakes. Every now and then put your tools down and relax. Trust me, you will be glad you did. Have fun and again, it sure looks great. Pat

Thanks! It probably does seem like we are in a hurry and for a few weeks we were because we were trying to beat bad weather. h47.gif We decided we'd like to take it out for Lewie's elk hunt in December and it just snowballed from there! So much for waiting for next summer... what can I say I have no patience! It is giving us something productive to do together on the weekends which is nice and the reward is great. Thanks for your advice and complements. happy.gif

I made a paper patern of each cushion and then cut the material leaving a1/2 inch selvage edge for joining. We then made a piece long enough to fit all the way around the edge with a 1/2 inch extra for joining to the large flat pieces. My wife then sesed the fabric on her machine. It worked out well even though I left the room while she worked so as not to have to listen to her remarks as to her thoughts about it.
Afterwards she said it really wasn't too bad after all.

Thanks! It's coming along. I'm sure our progress will slow down with the holiday's coming... trying to get in as much as I can while we have time! More pictures to come soon.
