I have a 2007 Scamp deluxe with a Dometic 3 way frig ( no freezer) In the owners manual it states when on 120V's, the lower the number setting on the control dial the colder the frig will get. This seems backwards to me and I've actually found when operating it, the frig actually gets colder when I set the dial on a HIGHER number like 6 or 7 instead of 1 or 2, just as I would expect. The dial goes from 1-7. Anyone have the same language in their frig owners manual or have any experience with this frig setting? Thanks in advance, Ron

If you don't have this language in your owners manual for the frig, do you set the dial on your frig to a higher number or lower number for colder?

I do not have the same model refrigerator that you do. However, mine has a dial that goes from 1 to 9. Below 1 the dial says "Defrost" and above 9 the dial says "Max". The higher the number I set the dial to, the colder the fridge gets.

Mine is the same as Frederick's and says MAX after the 9 which I've always assumed means colder. The higher the number I set it on the colder it gets so seems to be the way it goes for ours. Never had a manual on the fridge.

Our 3-way Dometic does what Frederick's does: the higher the number the colder it is supposed to get. Our average setting is between 3 and 4. The outside temps have a lot to do with how ours behaves, so we have to watch it to avoid freezing the lettuce.

As one of the first 54 viewers, all I can say is, I don't know. I used to have one of these, but I don't remember what it did. Hope this helps...

Ron, I have an older Dometic RM 2200a, my manual says:

"12. REGULATION OF TEMPERATURE
With the appropriate thermostat knob set at number 3 or 4, the cabinet
will automatically meintrin a suitable temperature for ordinary food
storage. Usually, no further adjustment will be needed, but in hot
weather, or when more cooling is required, the knob must be turned to
a higher figure. If less cooling is required, the knob should be turned
to a lower figure."

I also posted this in the Scamp site. Someone there pointed out the "ills of my way". Lower dial setting does indeed result in HIGHER refrig temps. What was I thinking, higher temps means less cooling--DAH on ME!
