Full Version: Neat motorcycle/camper/canoe concept
FiberglassRV > Around the Campfire > General Chat

First of all, if this has been posted here before, apologies.

I don't know anything about it except what's shown. It looks like it would have been fiberglass, and the time frame is right (1972), but considering it was 1936 I'm not so sure.

Whether it was just a concept drawing (my guess) or actually existed, I don't know. If only we could see page 41!

Pretty cool though! 38.gif

Edited to fix date mistake.

Strange,----- the art work looks like it was from the 30s or early 40s. confuse.gif

You're right! A search of back issues shows this as June of 1936.

Well I did wonder about the 15cent price - that seemed too cheap for 1972. So the low res must have caused me to misread the date.

Very futuristic then, and really before the use of fiberglass..... huh.

It says the magazine was founded in 1872.

Aha! Thanks for clearing up the mystery (that I caused). I went back and changed the beginning, while leaving a trail of the mistake for accuracy (I do like my mistakes to be accurate 33.gif)

I believe someone with the right skills could make one by marring a fiberglass trailer and a good sized trike-motorcycle; maybe even using a 19' Scamp instead of having the canoe for a sun shade.

15 cents?

Wow. A new rig I can afford LOL!

Here's a real motorcycle trailer - a German Vagabund from the early 1950s.

That's a 200cc DKW motorcycle and it will have had a little under 10hp! But then the article reprinted in the OldieCaravan website says that the trailer has an empty weight of 58kg - that's 128 pounds which is pretty impressive.

We saw several motorcycles & traier combos this summer on the road.
This one overnighted in Trinidad, CO Wal-Mart when we did.
