12 Volt Vacuum

Any recommendations for a good 12 volt vacuum? I like to camp at the beach, so getting the sand out of the trailer and tow would be nice.

In looking at reviews on Amazon, it is amazing how many people say they are great and others claim they don't have any suction. But overall, a couple of them seem to have many more positive than negative ratings.

I've always been underwhelmed by 12 volt vacuums so instead, I have a small Dewalt 18v cordless vacuum. I keep a couple batteries, which also fit a lot of my Dewalt power tools, and if needed, charge when on shore power. This is a surprisingly powerful vacuum for as small as it is.

I bought the Black & Decker PAV1200W 12-Volt Cyclonic-Action Automotive Pivoting-Nose Handheld Vacuum Cleaner. I've used it around the bed area and to clean my Blazer and am happy with it so far. The cord is actually about 15' long.

We have had the B&D one for a few years now. It works great, and has lots of suction.

The thing is though, we rarely use it. A quick whisking is usually all we ever do, other than the once a year clean where the vacuum is nice for hard to get at spots.

I second the Dewalt vacuum .I have a Dewalt drill ,saw and sawzall which use the same battery and charger. Also works well for vacuuming out the TV

I find that around the bed, it throws dust all over the bed. I wanted something that would get into the crevices between mattress and walls without throwing the dust up on top of everything.

Plus I spend a lot of time at the beach and needed something good for getting the sand out of the Blazer. The whisk broom is good for the trailer floor.

That was intended as sort of tongue in cheek. But it is what we use. However ever since I lost my speedo body (not in the garage, or basement, must be heading for the recliner, I'll wait for it there) most of our camping has been woodland. Less shall we say incentive to be at a beach and they tend to be more crowded.

I will say the 12 volt vacuums of today are a lot better than the early black and decker I had years ago, that thing could not suck the flame out on a bic lighter. I tried.

I dread to see what is living beneath the carpet in my trailer. I vacuum it a few times a year at home with my regular house vac, and sweep the heck out of it while camping. I also use throw rugs on top that I can shake out.

I tried a 12V vacuum, but it was no better than my cordless dustbuster.

That one is 120V only. LOTS of power, but 7.1 lbs is a bit heavy.

It's all relative. I have furry travel mates. A good vacuum is essential, especially for upholstery. I don't have the patience for mediocre vacuum performance.
