Changing the dinette from dinette to bed and back is so easy I don't know what the fuss is about, I guess we've all gotten to use to the touch screen devices.

What you are describing is the sofa/bunk in the Scamp 13 standard versions. The deluxe front dinette layout does not have the upper bunk/backrest, so it makes into a single bed only.

Scamp will build a deluxe with a sofa/bunk in front like the standard version if requested, but you give up the dinette. It's an either/or choice: sofa/twin bunks or dinette/single bed.

I have seen some custom modifications in which all three functions were preserved: dinette, sofa, and upper bunk. Here's one:

It is not that, it just feels like a lot more work because people are tired at bedtime and don't want a lot of fuss, they just want to pull back the bed cover and hop in since that is what they are used to doing. So mentally the effort it takes is multiplied versus what it would be at other times of the day for the same amount of physical effort.

When we added a 2" topper to our double bed / dinette in our 17B Escape, it became a "permanent" bed. If we were to convert it to a dinette, we have to find somewhere to store the sleeping bags and the topper. It's just too much hassle.

Some people have physical challenges that require a home-style mattress and/or make the actual conversion process difficult.

I find raising and lowering the rear table in my 13 foot Scamp difficult. I do not have the reach of most people and far too many years working in manufacturing have doomed my back to allot of lower back pain. Things I don't have to deal with if the bed is kept down. Even though we have a front dinette cut in we have only used it as a table just a few times and mostly just for added counter space. 99.9% of the time we outside or off site. The only entertaining we do is the pretty constant charging of peoples electronic gadgets.

We have yet to experience a serious rain festival needing long term hunkering inside that may need more inside space.

The one thing I would change first if I needed the rear table. I would trash the factory table top and replace it with a piece of honeycomb panel. Twice as stiff with less than half the weight. Probably 4 or more times the cost though. Still cheaper than a back doctor.
