Does anyone know anything about these cute little fiberglass pop-up trailers? I have located one on Ebay. The guy claims that less than 200 of these were made. Can anyone confirm that?

Is there anyone on this site that owns one currently or has in the past? Do they hold up well over the years? Are they easy to work on/restore? Any draw backs to them? Does anyone know who made these and where they were made?

Oh, and one more question. I guess it has a slide out in the back for the bed. Can anyone tell me how this works?

My dad is thinking about buying one of these and would like to hear any feedback anyone has to offer.

Thanks

I seem t remember something called a Ranger pop up that was fiberglass.

Here's a picture of one about half way down the page.

Is that what it is?

I don't know about only 200 being made. I personally know someone with 6 of them in his yard.

They are also, in varying states of disrepair. This guy restores them proffesionally (Vintage Trailers) and can't seem to get the bits together to make even one usable one.

That may tell you something about taking on a project like this.

(I saw the ad.. you'll note he has no recent photos of the interior.)

Thanks for the links you guys. My dad is still trying to deciede if he wants to take on another project or not and he is worried about a market for re-sale. They are cute little vintage trailers.

If anyone else has anymore info on the Ranger fiberglass pop-ups let me know.

Today I know very few people who are aware of the proper care and handling of "canvas" My son had a small old coleman but in good shape. He immediately believed he had to waterproof it, WRONG! Of course the fabric shrunk and never again fit the frame. It did remain usable and I inherited it.
Once when I was using it, I had a guest when it was raining. They reached up and touched a small sag and of course the water came through. I was only 5 yo when we first lived in a tent for several months while daddy built our first home. There were 3 of us kids and we learned not to ever touch the roof so that when it was wet, it would still shed water. There wasn't anything in any spray cans in "those days"! Some people did oil their canvas but they smelled and collected dirt. The main thing was to always have the canvas taut and no touch. A good wall tent on the ground with a smal heater, gas or wood, can be even nicer than any trailer in the serious cold. We once had 7 trailers in an elk hunting camp but the gathering for all each evening (for telling stories) was a small tent with a wood stove!
I have never known of anything colder than these pop-up slide out beds in cold weather. The tough lessons are not forgotten!

Ellen, the pic of the Ranger that Lizbeth put up is a Ranger and I only know of one here in the sPacific North Wet. It lives in Sedro Woolley, Washington and the trailer is now in restoration but he can and does still use it.

He tows it with a mild custom 1954 Ford 2 door hardtop. The trailer is really nicely laid out and seems to have tons of room in it.

Here is a photo from the RV Hall of Fame Museum in Indiana. I think the third photo down is a Ranger set-up for camping that is on display there. Tom Trostel

Doug you don't mean this one? The owner of the car and trailer have been at the Unfinished Nationals in Elma, Washington (over Labor Day) the last two years that I know of...

Here's a Ranger that lives in Spencer, IA. I have no other details about it. I should have knocked on the door, but I didn't get the opportunity.
