2013 Scamp 16ft.

In an earlier post I relayed to others on this forum the fact that the headroom in our recently purchased Scamp is only 72.5 ". I will also pass along that the larger bed ( floor plan 6) is smaller than a full size bed. Btw- There has been no response from the factory to my question emailed to them re: the headroom issue.

Eric, you might find this topic useful (or at least interesting): Bed Sizes

You're going to see it's not uncommon for an RV "full" bed to be quite a bit narrower than one might expect.

Scamp has never been very fast to respond to email (actually they have only had it a few years) so always better to just call their toll free number.

Since the bed size question comes up often, I would suggest making the Bed Sizes thread a stickie. Raz

Yup on a Scamp Standard thats the size. You need to go with a Deluxe model if you want a bigger bed.

I think when you buy a trailer without seeing it first, it's imperative to carefully read every single item on the seller site describing the trailer dimensions, bed dimensions, etc. But even that isn't always enough to really get a feel for the thing. I was lucky to have a replica of my Scamp in the neighborhood (sort of) so I could scope it out first. Priceless.

Good point Sharon. You were fortunate to find one in your neighborhood. It would be a challenge to find one in our county let alone the neighborhood. I believe in going right to the manufacturer for the accurate info. In this way inaccurate statements by an rv dealer can best be avoided. We should not be subject to misinformation from the manufacturer re purchases of this magnitude. Has anyone else been duped by the 6' 3" interior headroom claim?

I've never been duped, but then I do... due diligence. I belong to MOST of the all molded towables and gain knowledge by asking questions.
Those of us on the forums know these trailers (and the manufacturer data) is "within limits." There are been folks that have bought trailers expecting they could fit it inside a standard garage (according to manufacturers specs), only to find out the trailer had a changed axle or taller tires.

Remember, when it comes to all molded towables... no two heights are the same and no two weights are the same.

I'm truly sorry you are unhappy about an inch or two of air space.....

If one wants to see before they buy any of the models of fiberglass trailers its always good to attend a Fiberglass trailer rally so you can sit and stand in them all. I know when I was in the market I thought I wanted a Scamp 13'.... after being inside one changed my mind and started the search for a 16'.... it was for me.... that was until I went into an Escape 17' and that became the one.... until they went and started making a 19' LOL There are a number of Fiberglass meets held in Washington and Oregon each year and always a wide selection of trailers to view.

Just to be clear, Donna we're talking 3 inches. How tall are you? I'm 6ft. If you are my height then I'm sure you did your due diligence and checked with the manufacturer as I did because as a 6 footer you know that is important information when making your purchase decision. If you are less than 6ft tall then this issue would be considered. "A couple inches of space". Right?

I just keep thinking about a member who's about 6'5", has a spouse, travels extensively in an older 16' Scamp and loves it.... Eric, we're getting ready to go into camping season here on the west coast. Why not sell the trailer and get something more to your height requirement? As unhappy as you seem to be, I don't think you'll ever be happy with the trailer. It's one of those things that would probably bug you forever.

Donna I'm sure your advice is well intentioned, however you seem to miss the point on this issue. What we have here is a manufacturer touting a 6' 3" interior headroom when in actuality it is only 6'. Manufacturers have responsibility to provide accurate information especially on a website. Respectfully, if you don't understand that then there is no way for you to understand my position or perceptions on future use of the trailer.
