2016 New York Auto Show

The 2016 New York International Auto Show opens this Friday. SUVs are said to be "taking center stage" this year. I'm looking forward to seeing updates to existing models (the 2017 Highlander is supposed to feature more horsepower, a new 8-speed auto transmission and their new collision avoidance package), re-introductions (Honda is supposed to finally release performance specs on their new generation RidgeLine) and any new entrants into the SUV/mid-sized pickup market (why doesn't Volkswagen offer a mid-sized pickup for the U.S. market?, other than they currently have more pressing legal concerns). I'll be curious to know what other FGRV members find interesting and worth sharing regarding prospective future tow vehicles as the NY Auto Show progresses and new releases/announcements are made throughout the show. Curious minds want to know....

VW does currently have a pickup, as usual sold everywhere but the U. S. of A, called the Amarok. It appears to be a fine mid sized truck but apparently would be crazy expensive here. Maybe some day when the "chicken tax" goes away we will see an influx of vehicles not currently available here. Lee

Disappointing so far. Unless I'm missing it, there's nothing new about the so-called "global" Ford Ranger coming to the U.S. market yet. Still no performance specs on the new generation Honda RidgeLine. Seems like it's mostly new paint schemes, even larger wheels and $100,000+ toys for the rich folks. Maybe next year. Good thing our 14 year-old Highlander keeps purring along for us.
