I would no be concerned in the least about buying one in the first year of production. The methods of producing this trailer would not be much different that previous models, and rest assured that Reace would ensure a good product, even on the first one out the door.

I bought my 19 without ever seeing an Escape, just going from what others had to say on the product, and from my conversations with Reace. My 19 is the 6th one to roll off the production line, and my deposit was in well before the mould was even built. No regrets at all.

Not sure if you have been there yet, but pop in to the Escape Forums at Escape Trailer Owners Community.

Nevertheless, all the positive comments about Escape has me seriously considering buying one of the early 21s. My vehicle has enough towing capacity to handle the extra weight and width over the 19, and although I am a moderate minimalist, my wife would appreciate the extra room - especially in the bathroom. We are 5'8" and 5'2 - so the smaller than queen size bed is not an issue.

Thank you in advance for sharing your perspectives.
Hi Arnold, to FiberglassRV, we're glad you're here!

I answered your question over at the EscapeForum, but just to let folks know here what I said: "I'd buy a first year Escape 5.0 if I could find one for sale, but the owners seem to be hanging on to them!

Buying a first year model is different than buying the first one ever built by a manufacturer. I have complete confidence that Reace and Tammy have nailed the manufacturing, no matter what "new" model."

I went to check on some info at the Escape website and they now have photos of the 21' although you need to log in to see them. It is awesome and the storage looks good and the floor plan is really open. With all the downsizing going on and people looking for something to last a few years, I think they have a winner! We had a stickie that had the bed close to the door and I loved it like that. I could have the door open after dark, lay on the bed and watch the lightening bugs or maybe someone's campfire in the distance.

Too bad Reace did't bounce design questions off of us like he did when planning the 5.0. I saw some really neat options for floor plans by extending part of the body over the A frame and tanks etc. at an RV show recently. The front kitchen and washroom layouts were interesting, both for use of space and function. You could make a 21'er feel like a 24'er.

It was in the Forest River Windammer series. Windjammer Travel Trailer Floorplans by Forest River

Ref: Windjammer, Could they even do a "V-nose" in a fiberglass shell I wonder. Well, I have seen the "V-nose" and thought they were cute, sort of, but still I think that particular look would not appeal to that many. I just prefer "classic" that doesn't look dated after a couple of years. We had a Forest River Product a few years ago.

The Escape forum is extremely active.

I don't know why not, although if the usual top-and-bottom two-piece moulding approach is used, there would need to be a bit of slope on the nose vee (not absolutely vertical) just as there is any any wall of these trailers.

The point of the vee nose designs is to get more usable space in the same overall trailer length. For most people with eggs overall length is not an issue, so I don't see a lot of motivation for this design.

A friend of mine bought a vee-nose design because his permanent campground spot had a strict limit on length, and the vee-nose was the way to make the most of it. It's a thirty-foot trailer.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

I went to visit the factory on Fri. Only went to look at the 17 but then, what the heck, might as well look at the 19 and before you know I was in the first 21

I was informed, based on feedback, that there are going to be some changes made. So they are responsive to feedback and the photos on their site may not apply exactly to the next ones made.

Many boats are made of fiberglass shells.

Ron even stumbled on an Escape baseball hat this week-end & he was seen wearing it when he left our meet today..... do not know but I have a hunch there will be a different name on the trailer he pulls into next year's meet with

The new Escape 21' is a work in progress. After the initial build Reace is contemplating making some changes to the next run based upon suggestions received at the rally and his personal observations. It is nice to see it take shape, I can't wait.

Jim - Is it fair to assume that you have your new Escape 21' by now? If so, when are you going to review it for us? More than a little envy floating around out here! Dale
