Taxes. Pure & simple. One of the two reasons why I always try to get my gas in Bellingham is that its cheaper. The other is that I consider it to be my patriotic duty to deprive the gov't of as much tax $$$$ as I possibly can.

Yup your right - a big chuck of the tax in the lower mainland is the Transit tax - got to pay for all those new sky trains some how - to bad none of them will ever come to the North Shore

Unhappy You ain't seen Nothing

But we have and have a picture to prove it.

Notice price of gas in first picture in St Helena, CA.

(I notice when Google took the picture of this intersection, the gas was $4.27!)

Second picture is of Nothing, AZ, pop 4.

(How do I intersperse text with pictures?)

Next week $3.50 will be a bargain.
This time next month, $3.50 will feel like they are giving it away.

There are some gas stations in Orlando, Fl charging 5.69/gal according to CNN. Why, because they can, there are no controls on how much they can charge.

Ya, there has been a huge stink over these station's prices for a couple of years now. Mainly b/c they refuse to put up signs showing their prices. They are near the airport so catch unsuspecting tourists and rental car returnees filling up without looking at the price on the pump. The city is fining them daily for not putting up signs but the profit is so huge they just keep paying the fines instead of putting up signs. Me, I NEVER pump gas without looking at the pump price just in case there is a discrepancy between sign and pump but I guess a lot of other folks never look at the pump price even when prices are not posted anywhere else.

The news says the price is going up because they have to reformulate for the summer. Isn't Florida a summer state year around?

My most freguently used station hit $4.00 for U/L this morning. San Fernando Valley, S.Calif. Still remember being able to put $1.00 in girlfriends pushbutton Dodge Dart and going back and forth to the beach and to school on Monday.

Wish it would go DOWN TO $4.50 per US gallon around here!

And they have had to reformulate for summer EVERY YEAR - but it didn't impact prices in the past!
