Level on front of trailer. Took apart a cheap level and used aluminum angle iron for the bracket.

As you can see trailer is not level now. I made sure the trailer was level before I mounted the aluminum lever bracket.

And last a backup guide for my truck. I have a white mark facing the front of the truck on the center of the tailgate. I backup just until the white PVC crosses the tailgate at the white mark, Remove PVC when hooked up.

Use a 1/2' floor flange and 1/2" PVC pipe.
The PVC also has a mark on it to set the height of the hitch, (from the ground to the bottom of the trailer hitch)you want the trailer hitch above the hitch ball on the truck when you back up.

Kevin, have to steal your backup guide idea and try it out, wearing out my truck seat just getting it lined up right, its not the side to side but the length, I usually have trouble with

That's a clever backup guide idea, I like it, but we don't use a truck to tow with. I have those telescoping magnetic base guides with what looks like a tennis ball on top. Besides a banner holder you can use yours for a camping sign bracket. We use a modified music stand.
