Because it's an add to panel (portable) that may never be roof mounted it is notable to realise that the controller (attached to the back of the panel) is not waterproof.

I don't think the controller is attached.

Looks like it is separate. Link to user manual for information.

I got mine for Xmas and finally opened the box. Pic is back of the panel and the controller ( which measures approx. 3" x 4" x 1" ). 15' extension cord and battery terminal clamps included.
Controller would easily fit in a Zip-lock bag.
I'm thinking the controller, in the bag, would go into the battery box, under the box cover.

Anybody know how you rotate the pic? Or why it came in horizontal when it was shot vertical and is vertical on my Mac desktop?

Fixed it for you Glenn.
I downloaded it and opened with office picture manager, rotated 90 and saved.

This thing comes with a whole bunch of cords that are not described in the user manual.

You guys are right. The controller is separate. That's good news!

I'm guessing that I will connect to the battery with alligator clips, to the controller ( inside a baggie, inside the battery box ), controller to female power accessory plug ( which will hang outside the battery box ), to male power accessory plug, to extension cord, to panel.

Very good price too, I forgot to add.
I wonder how effective 40w is.
I just got a GoPower foldable 80w solar panel (to add to my ETI roof top 95w) and paid a s*+t lot more but it does fold in half for transport, has lots of connection options and a padded packing case. The controller is on the back of the panel. I wonder how I can waterproof it.

It is generally recommended not to put the controller in the battery box, as there is a danger of a hydrogen explosion should a connection come loose or be disconnected while hot.

I have mine in additional battery box, along with some battery maintenance items.

Does the controller itself get hot ( temp-wise )? I was wondering if it is also not wise to put it in a baggie or a sealed box.
