A must look at the eagle

Go to Raptor Resource Project Decorah Eagle Cam and click on Nest Cam. The eagle has hatched one egg and two to go. You gotta love nature.

There already and even live in Decorah. One of the major newspapers here in Iowa ran an article yesterday on the number of viewers it has attracted. This is the fourth time they have hatched babies.

What a show we just had! The parent was off the nest for a few minutes and the cameraman zoomed in on the eaglet. It was hugely comical to watch! It kept opening its beak like birds do when they want to be fed. Every time it did, it fell over. At one point, it was directly looking at the camera.

I could swear I saw another egg hatching too. I thought I saw a hole that was getting larger as I watched.

They are also doing high definition filming for a National Geographic documentary.

This is so wonderfull to watch them feeding that rabit to that little fuzzy one. I think one of the other eggs has a pretty big crack now.

From the Cedar Rapids Gazette:

The Raptor Resource Project streams live video of the nest to the web where net surfers from all over the world can log on and peak at the eagles. The birds’ popularity has exploded in recent weeks, bursting to more than 10 million on Friday as word of the hatchings has spread.

News outlets in New York, Atlanta, Austin, and Chicago have all picked up the story. A Google News search for “Decorah eagles” turns up about 100 recent posts from dozens of media organizations.

I guess there were 10 people standing under the nest yesterday which is in someone's yard.
