A rare Scamp motorhome.....

Saw this on ebay today:

1987 RARE Scamp Mini motorhome Fiberglass camper not Toyota | eBay

Didn't know such a thing existed. ebay ad says Scamp factory only made about 20 of them.

I have no connection to this sale, just thought people might be interested in a look at it.

that's why I'm posting it here rather than the classifieds, moderator is free to move it if deemed inappropriate here.

Rare is right! there were only 2 (maybe 3) of those made on the Dakota chassis, plus another 8 or 9 on the Ranger chassis. That was it!
I was a little disappointed that the shell didn't look more like a fiver!

Pretty sure I saw one on a Chevy S-10 chassis once, at a campground up in the Michigan UP. That was a long time ago.

That ad comes up on EBay every few months. Not sure if it is a REAL Sale or a SCAM?

Scamp never built one on a Chevy, but all those mid eighties small trucks do look a lot alike! It could have been that Dodge?

When I see that I dream about finding one (real) cheap, because the truck it is on is clapped out. Then I would remove it and mount the camper on my old 4X4 Chevy and have the only four wheel drive Scamp extent.

No, what I saw was an S-10, but what I am not positive about is whether it was a Scamp or a SunRader. SunRaders were generally built on Toyotas. I remember doing a double-take, and thinking, "I didn't know they built those on an S-10". I suppose it is also possible that someone did a custom re-set from the original chassis.

I actually saw an old Sunrader today... getting to be a real novelty!

Chuck is hoarding Sunraders they look different than the Scamp (exterior).

I still greatly regret not following up on a Scamp MOHO that was for sale about 200 miles south of me 5-7 years ago.... Sigh...

S-10 Sunraders

There were exactly 10 18' Sunraders built on s-10 chassis in about 1982-3. All were recalled due to axle overloading and, as there was no "Fix" (as was the case for the Toyota chassis) most were scrapped. There is one known to still exist and was last seen in New York state about 5 years ago. There is also one in Canada, but that is a 1978 coach refitted to a later S-10 chassis by an owner.
