Abbreviations et al.....
Sometimes the abbreviations used are confusing for those who are new to the site. Like those personalized licence plates in Ontario [Cda] they can be a puzzle or the Q & Z signals used in communications.
If you think it is worthwhile.....
can members fwd their abbreviations and meanings to me via PERSONAL MESSAGE, I will compile a list and post it later. Once it is started it can be amended as necessary.

What abbreviations are you referring to? My screen name and my license plate both read RGRUGG. Looking at my wife's and my names, it should be obvious. My wife's license plate is GMA RGLS. Pretty obvious, too. Guess if they were nasty the state wouldn't allow them on license plates. Gotta admit though, that I sorta flirted with OLDFART.

I for one think this is a good idea....I don't use many abbreviations because like some others I have trouble trying to deside what they mean. I do use DH(dear hubby) as well as the other D things, like daughter and other family members.
I am not new here or on some other forums but I could sure put such a list to good use.
Happy Camping.......Lynn

Abbreviations
BTW, I am also a newbie, and would love to have a place to check out abbreviations - just learned a couple on this thread tonight. Thanks!

Urban Dictionary lists most used and gives interesting examples of use which depending on how you look at it can be amusing.
From Urban dictionary:
IMO "In My Opinion"
An internet phrase used to safeguard statements from insecure people who will find any way possible to personally attack you while drawing an argument out of nothing, and act as if your opinion were fact, simply to boost their self-esteem that they lack in real life.
Example of use:
Person 1: IMO, the sky is blue.
Person 2: I would flame you and try to argue your statement, which I would fill with many personal insults to feel better about myself, but you said "IMO", so I can't do that without looking like a retard.

IIRC=If I recall correctly. Another hedge against the attack of the Killer Factoids. One should never assume that one has recalled correctly. If there are two or three who agree, weight of numbers has some bearing on the probability that error will be accepted as fact.

Now I know what the D means in DH. I knew what the H stood for but which adjective the D stood for I was unsure of,

LOL Steve just keep in mind that depending on how DH is used and under what circumstances and how the better half happens to be feeling about the DH that day, it could mean pretty well anything the wife whats it to! ;-)

Dear Hubby, Dadblamed hoosband, Dumbhead? I used to know a forum crawler from Baltimore who always refered to his wife as "the Super Model." Lot of fellers from Texas will call the Missus "my bride" rather than my wife. Used to see "better half" from the gents who accepted, with a slight ironic twist, that their wives were in one, several, or most ways superior to themselves. Never see "BH" as an acronym. I'd never seen DH before visiting this forum. Apparently it doesn't stand for distribution hitch.
