Acronyms for dummies
I am just a newb at all this fiberglass trailer camping stuff but have gleaned a few tidbits from my time here on the forum. One of those tidbits is figuring out a few acronyms. I know most are self-explanatory but a couple had me scratching my head. Sprinkle a few of these in your posts and you too can look like an old hand on the forum. This is probably only a partial list, please add to or modify it as you see fit.
FG- Fiberglass, what our beloved little trailers are predominately made of.
Egg- A descriptive term for our little trailers that comes from their general shape & color, or maybe from the fact that when you exit one you feel like you just got hatched (or something like that).
RV- Recreational Vehicle. A somewhat generic term for most any contrivance on wheels (or possibly not on wheels).
FGRV- Fiberglass Recreational Vehicle. Another term for our “Eggs”.
TV- Tow Vehicle, what you use to pull your “FGRV” or “Egg” along the happy trails with. Not, in this context, what you watch re-runs of Gilligan’s Island and Hogan’s Heroes on.
Tow- See above.
Tug- See above.
Toad- another vehicle “towed” by a Motorhome. Could apply to most anything pulled behind your "TV" and for some could also substitute for DH (see below) I suppose.
5er- A 5th wheel trailer. I had to think on this one a while before the light bulb went on. It should be obvious, but when I first saw it my over analytical brain thought the writer was referring to the model number of a particular trailer. I caught on eventually.
Stinky Slinky- The sewer hose and associated fittings.
Stickys or Stickies- Those “other” kinds of trailers. You know, the stick built kind that “other” people (ones that don’t know any better) buy.
DH- I don’t actually know this one. The writer was apparently referring to her significant other, or husband. I can only hope she meant “Dear Husband” and not "Dumba** Husband”, or worse. I suppose it could have been “Departed Husband” but I don’t think so, the way she wrote about him made it sound like he was still around.
DW- The feminine version of above
TTT- Tiny Travel Trailer
PITA- Provider of Inconvenient Trailering Advice. In the real world it would mean Pain In The A**.
OECD (Obsessive Egg Compulsive Disorder)

OP- original poster (meaning the one who started the thread)
PO- previous owner
YMMV- literally, "your mileage may vary," figuratively, "your experiences and opinions may be different"
OTOH- on the other hand
IMHO- in my humble opinion (usually associated with a bold, arrogant assertion)

Ouch! Hadn't seen that one yet… good thing.
Right up there with snafu (situation normal, all "messed" up)… Is it also an old military acronym?

AYC! You've obviously been reading Urban Dictionary.
BION - some actually use IMHO here on occasion to politely correct misinformation posted. IMO (in my opinion) sounds more neutral thus is not as rude as it would be to just coming out and calling the party a DA would be

AFAIR - As Far As I Recall/Remember
Related to AIRC - As I Recall a more sure statement than one that is prefaced of followed by IIRC - If I Recall/Remember Correctly
IIRC or iirc is the one I see most frequently. Often associated with cost of parts or work being performed.
Frequently used by people that have collected fast amounts of stuff in the old attic and are trying to pull up the relevant information.
In the public version of RTFM the F stands for Friendly. As in read the friendly manual. If you contact me for tech support because you can't follow directions? Then not so friendly version gets muttered.

Welcome to my (previous) world. The Army publishes an AR (Army Regulation) 25-52 Authorized Abbreviations, Brevity Codes and Acronyms. Here is a partial list:
Acronyms List - Us Army Acronyms (official)
Soldiers had our own "unofficial" list; but they are not fit to print on this fine forum. Trust me on this.

Problem with acronyms is that the user assumes everyone know what he/she is talking about!
