Wow, I had no idea anyone built a 12K btu window unit. That's really cool! Or it will be... (pun intended)

Bama, will that fit in the hole? Any concern about the weight? Discuss it with Alan? I admit it sure would be nice to have more cooling power.

I'm extremely interested. We pick up our Snoozy on the 20th and after yesterday's heat I'm thinking we'll also want an upgraded AC unit.

Another question not mentioned is...What insulation material?
A 1/4" of closed cell foam will require a bigger A/C unit than something like reflextix/ratfur. If they offer an upgrade I'd suggest going to 7000BTU or so if available. That will be small enough for a small genset and big enough to do the job well.
My guess is that the 5000btu unit will be barely adequate on the hottest days in the Florida direct sun, but plenty good as the sun goes down even in the warmest conditions. Using a fly made from a cheap tarp would help when really needed. Of course, shade always helps, so park on the east side of a bulgemobile, when no trees are available!
We have a 7200BTU roof unit on our 13 Scamp and have never needed anything more than a low setting in eight years.

a/c

Snoozytown a/c update
We are home after a little over 2200 miles . Let me say first what I have said before Alan & Nicholas have the best service that I have ever seen in any field of endeavor . As you know if you have been following this , in the south west the 5000 BTU A/c was just not enough . So after talking to Alan I began a search for one that was larger in BTU not in size after looking hi and low I came up with the one that I have posted in an early post . 12000 BTU and just a little larger in size , When I arrived in snoozytown they jumped right on it taking out the old and in with the new. Needed cut out enlarged , had to run into town to get an brace , all in all about 3 hrs work . All the A/c problems are now taken care of . I am very happy Alan is happy he now has a few more options to offer , along with a roof air .
I think I could hang meat now . LOL

Larger air conditioner

Thanks for all the work on the 12000 btu air conditioner. I need a larger air conditioner too, and will have to take a trip down to South Carolina. The 5000 btu air conditioner is ok, but it sure has been hot, and it wouldn't be enough in this weather.

On the other hand, I must be crazy to want to go anywhere in this heat anyway. Am I just gonna sit in the trailer cause it's too hot to do anything outside? The humidity has been killer here lately.

Any big change in weight, or problems since you have the larger unit in?

Thanks,

Ruth
