What colour ("color" in US) is the egg?

What is the outside temp? (Anticipated)

Are you parked in direct sun or shade? (Best to plan for being in the sun)

I guess the 5000 btu isn't cooling enough? Have you tried using a fan with the a/c, helps move the coolness around

Are you talking your own trailer? It might help to know if you had standard roof top mounted one in mind or some Do it yourself aftermarket setup. Also, what r value you are dealing with in the trailer you are asking about.

I think you have 2 things involved, your outside color absorbs the heat vs reflecting it as in white and with 7x14 or 100 sq feet you may need a 8000 btu unit

I wonder if your window unit is in working order. A lot of those window units are mass produced in China and not serviceable, with no place to add freon. Just something i was wondering, if you have a Bad unit.

Agreed, 5000 btu just won't do it if you're in the sun on a warm day - at least it's not cool enough in our 17' EggCamper. Once the sun goes down it does okay, but there just isn't enough insulation to keep all that heat outside when the sun beats down on it. I think that Lil Snoozy and EggCamper really missed the boat by putting the little units in their trailers.

Now you have me wondering, did I make a mistake by ordering my 19' Escape with the Coleman Polar Cub 9200 a/c? I did it so that my generator will operate it, vs the standard 11,500 a/c Escape uses. Oh well, I do not plan on being in Florida in the summer, been there, done that.

I've got a 13.5K btu roof air in my 19 foot funfinder. This is not really 19 feet, the 'box' is 16'. Yesterday I camped next to the platte river in nebraska, and it was 107 degrees when I arrived. With the camper sitting in the sun, the a/c had it down to comfortable inside in about one hour. By midnight, I had to get up and turn the dial, because it was 60 degrees in here ! So, I guess what I am saying is 13.5K btu is likely overkill. At home, I can run it off of a 20 amp circuit, with a 10 guage extension cord to it, no problem.

I'm planning on putting the same thing in my 17 foot Bigfoot for the same reason. I think the 9200 should be more than enough.
