This was my first attempt to capture wildlife.
I am a photographer but I've never had the lens or the wildlife (not much to see in local Utah).
But since I was going to AK I got a good lens which solved nothing.
It is extremely hard to shoot moving animals at a distance.
Eagles in flight was the hardest.
Here are some eagles staying relativity stationary.
Check out the animation of the eagle taking a bath bath.

Dave I have a fairly inexpensive Canon 12mp SLR with a covey of lenses that were... ummm... not as cheap.
My camera kit is described here.

Mike, you were not lucky. You were good on that shot. You paced the eagle.. the background is mushed and the eagle is crisp which means you had the motion nailed.
Please don't tell my you got that on a 400mm though. I'll just cry if you do.

Bill and Ann: Eagles are, as a local commercial fisherman put it, "common flying rats". They are everywhere on the coast.
