Alberta Omelette Debrief

Just a note to tell anyone who missed this spring's Omelette at Miquelon Lake Privincial park - you missed a grand weekend.

The weather was mostly sunny, the campfires were well attended, and there was good music and conversation the whole time. The pot luck dinner was a great mix of camp food and more exotic Epicurean tastes.

Thanks to Darla for putting this together. The Egg community is a special group. As a recent owner of a Fiberglas trailer I have found everyone to be helpful, kind and considerate.

What was the date of this gathering? Planning to be at the Bolerama Prairie Egg Gathering in July myself. How many eggs showed up here? The food sounds good.

It was our first gathering but could not stay. We took our Ventura out for Saturday and looked at a few of the different trailers. One poor Boler snapped its frame on the way there and a few members got a mig welder and spent most of Saturday afternoon welding it back up(hope it made it home).

The Boler towed by the jeep was a work of art and had quite a few visitors! It had been raised and had a flush toilet, wrap around counter and all new interior.

Took a few pics (forgot to get a pic of ours)

A rally is a great place to have that happen. So much free experienced help! I attended a vintage rally last year and one of the attendees went off on the Friday morning to talk to a local farmer about an old trailer he had seen in his yard covered in blackberry's. They bought the trailer for $300 and went and got a plate for it and then towed it on a back road a mile to the meet - was lucky the thing actually made it that far without the wheels falling off.

The trailer was a mess hadnt been on the road for more than 25 years and it was knee deep inside with old stuff that who know what was growing in it. Blackberry vines still clinging to the outside. By the time Sunday morning rolled around the trailer and been cleaned out inside, power washed outside, it had new wheel bearings and tires, all new running light wiring and a new seven pin harness. The old fridge & stove had been taken out and checked over and put back in a roof vent cover replaced. Some window hardware had been fixed. In fact so many people wanted to work on the trailer the owner had to beg them not to touch anything more.
