Around here nearly all containers for drinkables have deposits and return values - keeps the litter under control. (yes, even those cardboardy-looking juice containers, pop cans & bottles, as well as beer, wine & liquor bottles/cans) As I recall when I grew up - it was beer bottles only that us kids searched for and returned for bubblegum money!

nothing had deposit wheni was a kid, and the woods was full of trash from careless people. i hate the deposits, but love that its now not as common to find beer cans in the woods.
