Just my 2¢.
This is a rental trill we had last October before we bought ours. I thought the bunk was great and so did our dog. He was happy and it kept him out of the way. We don't believe in size discrimination.

Hey Linda.. what breed is Argos? Looks like an RR? Just wondering 'cause we've got 2 and I thought we were the only ones here to have ridgies.

Hi Carol Ann
He is indeed a Ridgeback. You just can't see his ridge because he's wearing his jammies. He's one of the reasons we have a 4500 instead of a 1300. Where do your 2 sleep?

At risk of hijacking this thread.... One ridgeback in a 13ft boler was okay. Two RRs is why we now own a 4500. We removed the main portion of the backrest and remounted the small section below the window as a backrest (just for the shoulder blades) for humans. They have the entire lower as their bed.

No worry---if it's about dogs, kids (or even guinea pigs!) I'm good!! I used to work with a girl who had Ridgebacks and Dobermans. Very neat dogs!

Yes, I think they are kind of addictive. I've been trying to figure out how to get a second one.
I am partial to pugs too. Now that is a big dog in a small package if ever there was one. RRs are the complete opposite! Small dog in big body. My guy has several pug friends.

I posted here a few years ago about our homemade dog ramp. Our dogs love it and use it without hesitation. It's perfect in our 16' Casita, but too long for our 13' U-Haul. For our U-Haul we use the plastic stairs that Gina mentioned.
If you're interested, here's a link to our dog ramp post: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...amp-25062.html

YES! Thanks, Jeanne---your's was the one I had seen before! So, it's not possible to make a version for the 13'???? If Gina couldn't do it, it probably can't be done! bummer
Actually, Gina wrote "my 13 can't do it, tho." I wonder if she meant 13 ft. camper, or 13 year old dog????

Vickie, I just got a mag in the mail and it has covertable dog stairs 2 and 3 steps that fold down to make a ramp. Look under www.lakeside.com. Hope it helps.

Hammacher.com has a pet ramp and staircase with 15-1/2" wide by 12" deep steps, with carpet cover. They show 5 pounds for the weight, and a 130 pound max. load. The ramp mode gives you a 30 degree incline.

Hey Mike,
That's a nice one----I may have to consider it (the price makes me think it's sturdier than the ones pictured in the catalogs I get in the mail.) Wish I was handy and could just make the dang thing---oh yea, that's all I need---one more project!

We have a 12 year old Shih Tzu who is very small and can't make the jump to the bed, (they're members of the family Bob so I bought a 2 drawer light weight storage box that was 1/2 as high as the bed. I put a cushion on the top so it makes another seat as well and Meg can make the two jumps quite nicely even for a wee old gal like her. We store our canned goods in there so it serves three purposes. It's heavy enough to support my sitting weight (don't ask) and light enough to move out of the way. It fits below the closet door right beside the bed, so she has free access to the bed unless the cat is sleeping there - see, it really serves 4 purposes - in which case she had to learn to push the cat out of the way.
It works for us.

Vivian---what kind of 2 drawer storage box is it???? A plastic one like at Walmart or something a bit sturdier?? It's a perfect idea, as I was looking for something that would do double (or even triple duty).
Matt---I better start going to BB&B---I never go there--obviously they have some interesting stuff!

Vicki, I suppose Walmart have them. I got my near Toronto in a specialty store that just carries containers, storage units etc. It was actually a 3 drawer unit but snapped apart so I measured how much room I had in height under the closet door and found that taking off the bottom drawer worked perfectly. It is plastic but has been holding my weight (and I am just under 200) for 4 years now. I use it to sit and put my shoes on. I figure if it gives out, then I'll buy another one, it wasn't that expensive. I don't know, the Walmart ones may bee cheaper and a bit too flimsy but this one is very light until I load it with our cans. I put the canned goods in there because that's right over the wheel so I know it's well centered.
Good luck.
