...and away she goes!

Note to self:

After getting frustrated working on the Scamp, remember to take the manual off the roof of the Rav4 before driving away to get groceries.

*sigh* I woke up at 3 this morning and went sh** I left the manual on the roof. This morning I drove around, but couldn't find it laying on the ground. Oh well. But... YAY TEAM...found a copy of the manual on this site.

We had just made a grocery stop, somewhere in Nebraska as I recall. I hadn't driven 1/2 a mile when I heard the clanging of the dog's metal dish flying off the open tailgate. By the time I got to it, it was flat as a pancake. At least the cooler, now on the tailgate hadn't joined it. At times like that I like to quote Dan Quayle, "what a waste it is to lose one's mind". LOL my partner did the same with a new Iphone. Realized all to late after hearing the klang on the roof - went back and checked the roadway - already flattened!

Beware

Vehicle Roof tops are very hungry. They'll eat anything and coffee cups are their favorite, then purses.

Honey, where is that really expensive cordless phone we bought? I put it on the bumper of your jeep just before you went up town. Ain't there now.

Yeah, unbolted my kayak racks to take them off the roof of my truck. Got distracted by something and left them in place. Got into the truck to go to the carwash. When I slowed down to take that first corner, the racks went rolling off the front of the truck, gouging the paint on the hood before hitting the road.

or how about this scene from "Raising Arizona" where they just realized that they left the baby seat (with the baby in it) on the roof of the car...

And there was the time my truck tailgate opened somewqhere along the road, and my almost-new snowblower jumped off and found itself a new home...

I count myself lucky. All I've ever lost was a cup of McDonalds coffee...

I'm too ashamed to share what I left on top if a car when I was 18. When I realized it a mile down the road, I pulled over very carefully. It was still there but had slid back about a foot. I found out years later that if it had fallen off, the street might have been shut down and HazMat called...
Scarred for life, I haven't put anything on the roof of a car in almost 40 years. Just writing this has made me break out in a sweat!
