Another Perris Pacer

I am newly signed up here and just purchased an 86 Perris Pacer. Purchased from original owner and has sat more than it has been used - I think he hardest use of any trailer is sitting in the sun baking - - - - Pretty cool trailer - it has some issues - lots of crazing where it was exposed to southern sun, has an a/c (factory) mounted on top, which I will remove, lots of cleaning to do, shag carpet unglued in the inside and yes needs new axles. So I'm sure I'll be asking a bunch of questions.

The floor is in pretty good shape - can see water spots, so I plan to coat with penatrating epoxy to retore even stronger than original.

I'm making a list as I go through this trailer.

About a year ago I finished the rebuild/restoration of a 1958 Airstream - polish and all new interior - so thats my big vacation trailer, this Perris will be my "work" trailer when I go off myself and stay in it rather than motels.

Hi Ken,
Nice to see another Pacer on board. I have a 13', myself, model PP-13. My trailer needs a new axle, so I'm sure we'll be comparing notes on that. Also, my interior shag carpet wall covering was coming unglued, too. One thing I did, before reattaching the carpet to the walls, was to put on a layer of 3/16" thick ensolite-type insulation called FoilBuild on the walls. The idea is to help keep the heat out during the summer and in at night (or the winter). What kind of glue did you use to reassemble the walls/carpet?

Yup I'm sure we will be comparing notes - you are a bit ahead of me, however, I consider the trailer to be pretty much not usable till I get the new axle on - I drove it 235 miles home yesterday - not much suspension there - guess I would be ok for short distances. You have mentioned in the past that your axle is bolted - mine is welded - bummer.........

Okay, Ken J - time to update your "RV Type" in your profile (see [b]My Controls to find how to do it). Congrats on finding your Perris Pacer. You didn't say so, but am I correct in assuming yours is the 13 ft? Not the 5th wheel, right?

Hi Ken,

I'm no expert, based on my success-to-oh'well ratio. I used the spray glue 3M 77 to attach the bubble foil to the inside fiberglass walls. (I sprayed the cut foil outside.) I let that dry for a few days, then I used a Dap Weldwood Carpet Adhesive to glue the shag to the foil.

About the axle, mine is welded too, but I'm pretty sure I want the new one to be bolted. Since this is Campfire Chat, I'll start a Perris Pacer frame and axle thread to carry on this discussion.
