We just got our new stove, it's out side with a nice little fire started inside, we are going to finish dinner and go hang out by the stove to see how good it is in this 37f degree weather.
I ordered it from the link mentioned in my previous post ($94.45) and it was delivered in 6 days, so that was a fast turn around.
Once we got our damp wood to burn, the stove got really hot fast, it felt great as long as you were about 2-3 feet from it, but if you don't keep that fire stoked, it looses it's heat quick. Maybe using better wood will make a difference. The stuff we picked up from the grocery store was damp and not very good quality, but we still got decent results for such a little stove. I think the sticks & twigs I picked up in the yard for kindling burned better and hotter than the wood we paid for.
This stove is a bit "leaky" and the body smoked a lot getting the first fire started. Some of that may have been because it was new, it eventually stopped after I had it going strong for a few minutes. I can see that it wouldn't be much good in a closed environment, unless you were desperate, and extremely careful. Some of the smoke issues may have been due to user error, as we don't have to build fires very often inside a wood stove around these parts. I am sure there is some art to stacking the wood just right to get better results. Still, it's not a bad product for the price, and if you are in a pinch, I am sure it would be your best friend.
I think it will also be good for those winter camp outs during fire bans, since it is contained and off the ground.
I am glad to have it, it is fairly compact and not too heavy for me to pick up and carry, and it's easy to put together.
Thumbs up
