BBQ tofu, of course!
...with a side of BBQ soybeans

What sides do you like with your BBQ?

On your feet in central Texas, of course!

If you put Mary's shoes on, clicked your heels three times and said, "There's no place like ________" where would you end up?

Why, I'd end up right here in MN, right on my front porch, watching all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.....

What was THE BEST animal encounter experience you have had while camping?

Maybe not the BEST, but certainly the most surprising encounter I've had while camping was waking up in our backpacking tent in the high Sierra to a rustling sound just outside. I peered out through a small opening in the tent's door and an inch away from my eye were the sharp quills of a porcupine that was wandering by!

Where are you headed on your next camping trip?

I guess we are not limited to responses so here I go again. Our next trip will be to the Rockies in southern B.C. That is the season when all the wild young things are born and venturing out, plus, the mountains are alive with flowers at that time of year.

Do you have a favorite wild animal? We happen to favor the bighorns.

I have a great love for the coyote. The songs at night, the Native American stories, and the way coyote survives makes me grin.

Did you know that in the southwest the early railroads were made of wood with raughhide on top. That was until coyote ate the raughhide.

Did you know, that if you kill a coyote and spread the bones across the medow, at night the bones will come together and the coyote will once again howl. To this day you can hear his song.

Also, the reason coyote has a black tip on his tail is because he scorched it when he brought fire to man.

I know our local working cowboys dislike them, but they also love the way they remind them of the wilderness.

Yep, coyote is fun to see & hear.

What makes you grin in the wild?

Well, the coyotes that ate my dogs' leashes at Joshua Tree did not make me smile.

But, watching hawks and eagles gliding through the sky hunting for dinner, makes me smile every time.

What is your favorite dinner while camping?

Buffalo Burgers

Have you got live buffalo in your area, or a story about a buffalo while camping?

I recall sitting for nearly an hour on the highway in Custer State Park waiting for the buffalo herd to cross the road when I was there camping as a kid... What do you remember most about Mount Rushmore?

I always remember that Thomas Jefferson was originally on George Washington's Left side, but there was a flaw in the rock that Gutzon Borglum didn't find until after he started carving! Now Thomas is where Abe was supposed to be.

Do you know where the world's Largest McDonald's restaraunt is?

No... but there is a "fancy" McDonald's Restaurant in New York City that has a chandelier and a grand piano! People are hired to come in and play for the dinner crowd.

What would you want to see and do if you went to New York City?

?? sorry that's the best I can do. I haven't been there enough to know anything but the tourist spots.

How many days of trailering do you have planned this summer?
