yes! in fact it was the one the snake came to visit!

it was a small (20x30) foot cape cod with doghouse dormers. its best feature was the 35 year old tiny leaf maple in the back yard. it started branching at about 3 feet from the ground and had stepping size branches where my kids could climb waaaaay up.
that yard was next to a cemetery which had not been used since 1840 and it was a jungle of brush and trees in the middle of a city. no neighbors on that side for 400 feet. the fireflies provided their magic each summer. the maple waited until all the other trees in the neighborhood were stripped bare of leaves in the fall, then it turned crimson and was glorious for a long time after everything else was bare. a happy place.

(it was happier after i jacked up the stairway and replaced all the plumbing)

if you are gardeners, what flower do you wait for each year?

When I finally see "Jack-in-the-pulpit" peeking his nose up from behind the currant bushes I know that spring has finally come. We now have about 30 of these thingsback there. The first one came from my Dad's garden.
What can YOU do in a canoe?

Unhappy

I could paddle around looking for OKRA im my canoe.

Is it possible the site was hacked because of the OKRA thread?

Okra?,

Twenty six years ago I moved onto the family land after we were given 3.5 acres if we promised to move back to SC from Florida so we could grow the grandchild nearer to the grandparents. We built the first part of our house...a 12x 24 foot two story shed, built an out house, had a well drilled, (away from the outhouse!) and then dug a large garden area and planted peanuts, sweet potatoes and OKRA. Everything grew very well the first year and so we had a great crop of OKRA to eat throughout the winter. In the South we often laugh about Northerners thinking that grits is truly the only Southern food...we have tried secretly to hide the fact that OKRA is the one and only crop that matters to Southerners. I have no doubt that this thread was raided in an attempt to hide the truth about OKRA not by Northerners as you might have surmised but instead by SOUTHERNERS who are attempting to control the OKRA Market just as De Beers is controlling the Diamond Market...although in my opinion OKRA is more valuable by far!

Question: Which is more valuable on the World Market...OKRA or diamonds?

Actually it is diamonds. You can't mount okra in a ring. And diamonds are a girls best friend!!!

Really, I have found a good set of vice grips a girls best friend. They open stuck jars, hold nails to hang pictures, work on odd shaped nuts or bolts, and originated in Nebraska .

What do you all consider your best friend, that isn't furry

That it comes after supper.
Would just charging up the battery from the tug in the morning be as good all that cash into a generator or solar set up??

Well, actually it probably wouldn't be much different than now- except I'd have more calluses and fewer kids........

I like both OKRA and GRITS, so here'smy question-
Anybody got a recipe that uses both OKRA and GRITS?

That would be called a "recipe for disaster".

Speaking of which, what type of fellow camping disasters have you witnessed while camping?

At the dump station, watched some people with a rented motorhome put the hose through the window to clean out the toliet and then used the same hose to fill the fresh water tank with water from the spigot marked not potable water.

What did you break while you were camping and not paying attention????

BOBSMITH you are now dubbed as the THREADBUSTER! The intent of this thread was to answer the question in the previous post and the originate a question of your own! Since it was brought up that is a hilarious episode to watch unfold before your eyes at any campground! They probably vowed not to ever go back to that campground because the water tasted sooo bad!

My question following the outline of this thread topic..... Was BOBSMITH a fictional name made up just to register on this site or is it actually real?

Bob Smith is my real name. (Well, James Robert Smith.)

Do you know how many Smiths there are in the USA?

No, but then again I don't know how many Blandford's there are in Canada either.

What criteria do you use for picking an area to explore?

How far away and hard to get to it is, beauty, not too hot and I like a place that is a bit private.

What criteria do you use when picking a camp site?

Talking

Since we do not have Air Conditioning, I look for shady trees. I also prefer sites that are level side-to-side; but am not picky about front-to-back level.

How many hours it the maximum you'll drive in one day?

Frederick,
The older I get, the fewer hours at the wheel. When I was a youngster I'd drive 500-600 miles straight through. Now 300 miles is much more comfortable. Never really measured the time, since maps are laid out in miles and we travel from destination to destination.

What is the most unusual scenic sight you have seen on a trip?

I saw a dead Possum in the middle of the road (not the song, either) with a temporay yellow center-line tape strip stuck right up to, then over it, then on down the road. Hilarious.

I use a dilute bleach spray solution to sanitize ALL hose ends, fittings, etc when hooking up at a new site. It's just because of goons like the ones mentioned earlier in the rental unit. What do you use / do to prevent contamination?
