Any South Carolinians here?

If so, what can you tell me about S.Carolina on the coast for wintering? Weather and interesting things to do, places to explore? I assume the mountains would be too cold and possibly snowy? Have been going to AZ since late 1994 and need someplace new and interesting. Thanks.

We're not from SC, but were there recently. The state parks on the coast have a deal, something like 30 days for $300, but with tax & fees I think it comes close to $400. A recent search showed some of the parks full now, and not warm enough for us, although better than here & where you are.

Sc

Charleston, SC is a marvelous walk around city with tons to see and do, including really good restuarants.

We have stayed in 3 coastal state parks, Myrtle Beach, Huntington Beach, (neare Myrtle Beach) and Hunting Island (near Beauford), and like them all. We like the area but it's not generally considered a wintering place like FL or the deep southwest. It can be cool if not down right cold, though nothing like the upper tier of the USA, definitely not a shorts and swimming place. I'd take it over NH but not FL (from Ginny).

Norm: you missed Edisto? We did all four of those state parks in December, liked Huntington Beach the best, second best was Hunting Island. We've been to Charleston, saw the Hunley, but like Savannah better.

Charleston

Mary and Bob,

I've been to both as well. I know Charleston better because I went to college there for four years..... both fine places.

We've been to Edisto a couple of time but did not camp there. I like Huntington best as well and like Hunting Island a lot because it's different. We did not take the time to visit Beaufort because we went there to visit a restorer of Airstreams.
