The Southwest is experiencing a mild winter so far, punctuated by an occasional dry cold front. Mid-70's in the low desert this week, nights 45-50F.
C'mon over, Bob, and bring that "ree-dikulus Scamper" of yours!
I'd be enjoying it if I could shake the cold/flu I've had since Christmas Eve.

Was -24F actual temp this morning with a little breeze added on.
We’ve got a little snow on the ground now so the birds have come out of the Conservation Reserve program ground west of us to feed at our smorgasboard feeders. Today is our traditional last day for the Christmas lights on the house. Now to make some goals and plans for camping, fishing, Gardening and home improvement projects this year.
Happy New Year to all.

Here in NW Wisconsin it was somewhere around 20 below F this AM , depends on which thermometer you look at.
Cold weather is supposed to stay with us until next week.
Thanks Canada , if it wasn't for you we would be having wimpy weather like other parts of the US.

Negative 30 degree F. here, in Brownfield, in the western hills of Maine. The wind wasn't blowing (thank God but it was cold enough so cold air came down the vent, from roof and into the instant water heater and froze it up. 15 minutes with a hair drier got the ice dam out of that and no leaks...
Spend day thawing pipes for 3 friends in town.
Just got to wonder if it hits just 33 degrees once in the month of January if it will constitute as our January thaw.....

Thanks Canada eh! I’m in Windsor Canada where we are geographically south of the US so I can blame this cold weather on you . Had enough so I’m heading to Happier Camper land in LA next week.

Reports I've seen say this is a Siberian export, coming over the north pole and through Canada, so you can blame the Russians.

No Electric heater or Gas bill for me and the cost of fire wood is the same if it's +30 or -30 I just feed wood fired boiler at a rate of 6 sticks every 5 hours.

It takes a certain mindset to endure the frigid temps. In math zero means none, if you have zero of something, you have nothing, right? Therefore, when it is zero outside, the temp is really nothing at all. Below zero? Why, that's less than nothing.

Often wonder why I never see, on National News, how bad the weather is here in Maine. Guess it's because it is too remote or dangerous a place to send a news person to. This is the 8th day in a row where the temps in the early AM has been -15 or lower....-29 this morning by the local news but my thermometer reads -30.

[QUOTE=k0wtz;677300]Gerry are you the people with permanent ladders on your roof you get so much snow?
No I rake the roof off with a 24 foot long snow rake then I have to shovel where the windows are so we can see outside. The year we had 11 feet of snow my wife had to take the top of the snow banks off so I could keep the driveway shoveled and she had duck so she didn't hit the electrical wire coming into the house.
Temps actually got to 15 today so I let the woodstove go out and cleaned the chimney.
Got it going again and house is warming for the next cold snap coming after the 10 inches of snow predicted for tomorrow.
