I sort of am (half of it.) We are leaving about 11 AM to drive up to an agility trial that starts Friday, so will be in the trailer Thanksgiving afternoon and evening. Not cooking a turkey, though I made stuffing muffins and have ham. Also a chicken pie to do in the microwave.

Bobbie, the last time I tried doing Thanksgiving in the trailer was in 1990. We got thrown out of Yosemite National Park.

Bobbie,

I would like to be doing Thanksgiving in our trailer somewhere on the coast. Does that count?

We already did. But that was CANADIAN Thanksgiving which is in October.
The weather was fine and we had turkey on the BBQ.

The last couple of years I have joined Liz and Eric at Lake Isabella for their traditional fish and feast. It really is a lot of fun to eat turkey on the river while in your hat and mukluks.

If ya'll are reading this, say HI to the gang for me!

You people up in Canada have it figured out better than us southerners in the USA. You can still camp at Thanksgiving time, and we can't do so here in Minnesota. It is too cold for camping and the harvest time was way back when you celebrated your Thanksgiving. I am sure those pilgrims and indians way back when were not sitting around celebrating in the snow like us Minnesotans (yep, snowing here) Burrrrrrrrr
Happy thanksgiving everyone celebrating tomorrow. Turkey and frozen veggies here (fresh ones long gone!)

We will bring our portable guest suite out to "The Tortoise Ranch". Our friends in the desert host Thanksgiving. They breed Galapagos Tortoises. They have created a "Full Hook-up" site for us next to their garage. Here are some photos from last year.

Well, we had a '70 Airstream 23' Safari and a '77 Ford supercab 3/4 ton truck. My wife, a native Californian, had never seen Yosemite, and I had a few extra days off in conjunction with Thanksgiving, so we loaded up the one youngster we had home (a year old at the time) and headed for the Yosemite Valley. We got there, and the weather was balmy and the valley as beautiful as ever. As night fell, we had our Thanksgiving dinner, and things were lovely. At about 9pm, the park rangers came through and told us the valley was expecting hundred mile an hour winds before morning, and that they were closing all of the campgrounds so campers wouldn't have "widowmakers" or worse yet, full trees falling on them. So... at 10:00 pm we (as well as all of the other campers) were on the way out of the valley into the storm in the dark on the highways... what a miserable trip! I still think the NPS rangers handled that issue very poorly. There certainly could have been other accommodations made.

And now you know... not nearly as exciting as you expected, was it?

Hey Fred, thats a really cool site

Actually, my trailer is sitting in that spot right now. Fred was kind enough to let me take it because I have a leaky ball valve and need the sewer hook up for the frequent dumps. But he is hooked up to the water.. a different kind of trailer twister..he is a few feet away from here.

We had a wonderful dinner and his friends ranch is truely a lovely place, with REALLY big friendly Turtlies. They come right up to you and rub on your leg. I don't want to cuddle one, but they are cute in their own special way.

It's a full moon tonite, and it is low sonoran desert, so the sand looks like snow. Kinda cool.

I wasn't able to get a WiFi signal, and got too busy to borrow Gina's aircard, so I'm posting now from home.

The first picture is the "South Facade" of the ranch that faces the highway, taken from the driveway near the gate. Our friends have set up trailer spaces along the driveway, near the garage and water tanks where they lived in a travel trailer while the ranch house was being built.

The second picture is the RV's lined up in the "Full Hook-up" sites. Visitors bring their own accommodations.

They have only one Galapagos Tortoise right now, and I missed getting his picture. They breed other species as well.

On Friday, we took a drive to see the South-East shore of the Salton Sea. Looked at a mound of Obsidian nearby, then drove to the mud-pots. There is a lot of Geo-thermal activity in the area, and several alternate energy companies have set up to tap into it.

But this spot is just a local tourist attraction.

Awesome pics, Frederick!

We had a cold but otherwise fun weekend at our agility trial. We had the same campsite as before, with the same neighbors, up from Bakersfield in a 24' TT. This time I got pictures of our lovely campsite.

We were between two Eucalyptus trees, looking out on the fields in back.

I didn't bring any turkey along but did try "Stuffing Muffins" that I saw on TV. Mine were a bit too crumbly but still good. The trial itself was fun. Jack had a problem with distractions the first day, and Merlin, on whom we were experimenting with a lower dosage of his anti-seizure med, had a seizure, so neither did well. Saturday Jack improved greatly and qualified half his runs, and today he and Janine both Q'd in their only runs.

We had a few jailbreaks from the Xpens. We knew from October Jack had to be left in the crate when I was away, but he managed an escape under the big exercise pen gate at the trial site. When I started packing up and moved the EzUp case from by the fence, Teddy did a bunk and was found wandering in the parking lot mooching for food. I need to improve my side-fastening system so they can't get out between the trailer and the fence.

Hi Gina! I have no lap top so I went through withdrawals all weekend.

Kernville (Lake Isabella) was wonderful! Nice sunny days and freezing nights. Friday night it was in the low 20s! We "cheat" and use our big trailer for turkey day. It is now for sale and hopefully by next year we will have a bigger FG trailer, maybe a 5th wheel. Hey a girl can dream!

Our 1st Thanksgiving in the trailer!

We left home Thanksgiving morning for Morro Bay, on the central California coast, a 4 hour drive.

The weather was beautiful. We had b-b-que chicken legs, peas, salad, pumpkin pie . . . and the best Thanksgiving ever!

Maggie
