What would be a fair asking price for this 13ft Scamp. Model with no toilet or shower just the front bench, no ac. Thats all i know really.

This would be my first rv so any tips on how to talk him down would be nice and any questions to ask him (or point me to the place that tell me all that i sure there's one)

Will,

Too sketchy to really say what would be a definitive price. If you can get more details, might be able to help you. Look back through the last two or three pages of the ones for sale recently in the referrals and member sale sections and you will probably be able to get a good idea where it should ballpark with whatever condition it's in.

From the way you phrased it, sounds like you think he's too high.

There are other parameters of what it is worth to you which may be different than to someone else. On mine, it was 20 minutes away and always had been kept in AZ. Thus no water damage, rot in the flooring, or bad rust on the frame. I was willing to pay a smidge more for it, then something out of state with other possible issues.

Also, check out the Buyer's Checklist in the menu to the left. Lots of good points there.

Will, I just looked thru both the For Sale and Referral for sales, and of course there are not a lot of 13 ft 1988 Scamps in there, but found one for $3400. But this thing had been garaged for years so I would think it's in pretty good shape. The Buyers Check list that Bonnie suggested really helps when your buying to walk you thru things you should be looking for. Buyers Check List

If you can see it, and then give details of what kind of shape it's in. That might help others to help you as well. Good Luck! Robin

The bottomline really is "what's it worth to you?" Does it have the features you want and is it in the shape you want? Granted it maybe really over priced, but you haven't shared the pricing information. Typically these trailers sell very quickly at the price the seller wants. It's not like horsetrading or like buying a used car on a car lot.

Is it worth $1,200 to you? Looks like it would be to me. What are you going to pull with? Just saying a "bumper hitch" doesn't tell us much. And, what is the rating on the bumper for towing? You'll want to tow level or slightly nose down, not nose up! Then too, you'll need (probably) a 1-7/8 ball, unless the coupler has been changed since 1988.

Are you buying or selling Will? I see you've posted this trailer in the For Sale forum:

Just last week there was a topic that fits here, check it out...

So...how do you convince someone to sell their trailer?

Good Luck,
